LOW BODY TEMPERATURE AND TESTS

WHAT MEDICAL TESTS CAN I TAKE TO DETERMINE WHY I ALWAYS
HAVE A LOW BODY TEMPERATURE?

You should at least start with the biologically active thyroid hormones, free T3 and free T4 (not total T3 and total T4), plus the one that doctors always run, which is TSH.  If FT3 and FT4 are in the lower half of their reference ranges this is usually consistent with being hypo.  Dependent upon results of initial testing you may need to  expand testing to include thyroid antibodies, TPO ab and TG ab, as well as Vitamin D and Vitamin B.

If you have trouble with the doctor about testing for FT3 and FT4, then you need to insist on it being done.  Don't forget, you are the customer.  FT3 is the most important because it is four times as active as FT4, plus studies have shown that FT3 correlates best with hypo symptoms such as low temperature.  Low temperature can be also be associated with other problems as well, but I would start with thyroid testing.

Wilsons Syndrome is a possibility too (my brother-in-law has it); great article here: http://www.wilsonssyndrome.com/WhyUndiagnosableWithThyroid.htm

This is often an indication of an underactive thyroid, a condition that is extremely common in women in our age bracket. I'm going to have administration transfer this post over to the Thyroid Forum, the CL there will guide you well.
