Lab Results

Recently, a faith healer told me I have had calcification of the thyroid. So, I went to an endocrinologist and had my labs drawn. He seemed to suspect insulin resistance, but that turned out ok. Most of the labs came back normal, including my TSH levels, which are in mid-range of normal, so clearly fine. The T4 and C-peptide levels are a little low though, so endocrinologist's notes say he will be putting me on 1/2 tablet per week. Can anyone interpret any of that for me? I'm pretty clueless. Thanks!!!

You sure this endo is not the same as the faith healer? Any doctor worth their salt won't use the old 3rd generation test. Sorry to be so blunt, but you need to get tested for TSH, Free T4 and Free T3.

These are the latest tests given. Sure they will cost you a packet, but are worth it.

If you truly believe the faith healer I would suggest getting a ultrasound to highlight any issues. Calcifactions are not something to treat lightly! (I still am having issues with a faith healer even saying that to you! )

Get the full blood thyroid function tests done.
If you aren't having symptoms, then don't worry about it!

WBC: 8.9
RBC: 4.71
Hgb: 13.4
Hct: 39.4
MCV: 84
MCH: 28.5
MCHC: 34.1
RDW: 14.8 (high, but I was told this doesn't matter)
Platelet: 262
MPV: 8.1
T4 Free Direct SerP1 QN: .7
C-Peptide SerP1 QN: 1.3
TSH 3rd Gen SerP1 QN: 2.415
Insulin SerP1 QN: 7.78

Then at the bottom, the doc just says "Blood count in in normal range. Thyroid level is OK but Thyroid should be increased a bit (1/2 tablet per week). The C-peptide is low normal and the insulin level is OK."

I haven't spoken to him since it's the weekend so I don't know what he'll put me on or if 1/2 tablet is much of anything.

Thanks!

Hi,

we'd need to see your actual numbers (along with the reference ranges) to really comment.
What medication, and dose, did he put you on?
