Leg pain and hypothyroid

I am new to the site and fairly new to thyroid issues. Started with sythroid after finding TSH above 6. After 4 months on synthroid my  levels came down to what my doctir called optimal but my symptoms did not improve ir change. Major symptoms were hair loss, extreme fatigue and exhaustion and leg pain. PCP says that leg pain is NOT coming from thyroid. Levels are normal and would not increase synthroid.  Found a doc who switched me to armour. Within a week or so the fatigue and exhaustion improved. In the first couple of weeks on armour leg pain seemed to only come late at night and when I wake up on the morning. Leg pain now seems to linger all day and seems to have gotten worse. Energy level is good. Hair loss is about the same. But my main concern is the leg pain. It's a strange sort of ache or restlessness. I am not splitting the armour into two doses. My doc did not tell me to although I've read this is what should be done. I have also not had any bloodwork done since beginning armour. Before armour (after synthroid) TSH was 1.32 and FT4 was .89. Never had FT3 done. I know that's a lot. I'm mainly worried about this leg pain and want to know if this is a possible symptom of  my thyroid. My PCP wants to refer me to a neurologist!

Hi, well i'm on Armour too, and the leg pain your talking about, is it like your leg tightens up kind of and it makes you want to extend it or just an uneasy feeling in it? if so I have that at night, I feel I need an increase in my meds, so this is like a side effect of that need, and it only happens at night when it seems my meds are running down and I get really tired around 6pm I've always wondered if this is what restless leg syndroms feels like, it doesn't hurt just an uncomfortable feeling, hope you start feeling better.

Just from my own experience, I would say it's a vitamin deficiency. Years before I ever found out about my thyroid problem, I had strange leg pains.  And not all the time, I finally made the connection that when I had slacked off on taking my vitamins it would happen. My relief was heated massage and ibuprofen when it did happen and start taking my vitamins again.

Have them tested, Vitamin D, B12 magnesium, and ferritin, along with free T3 and free T4.  And be sure to get copies of your lab results.  Post them here.  Lots of help here and also a lot of good information.

Personally, I wouldn't bother going to a neurologist until after testing Free T3, Free T4, Vitamin D, B12 magnesium, and ferritin.  Then you should also be aware that just being in the so-called "normal" range does not mean that all is well.  Due to the erroneous method by which they are established, the ranges are far too broad to be functional for many hypo patients.

When you have more test results, if you will post them here, along with their reference ranges shown on the lab report, members will be glad to help interpret and advise further.
