NOW they believe me!

Mutter mutter mutter....yes, I am a little peeved right now. Had TT in Dec 2007. Some of you may remember I was feeling pretty darn out of it, lousy, tired, bawling my eyes out every 5 minutes for no apparent reason, etc etc.(Thanks for some of your answers to my posts, people) Saw my G.P. who was very reluctant to do any TSH levels. Even after I cried my eyes out and begged him, he said, Wait for the surgeons appointment and see what she says. Bah! Humbug ! Is what I said.
So off I trotted, ok, sat as a very peeved off passenger, can't drive coz I fall asleep too easily! Saw the surgeon last week. Yes, she says, the parathyroids were bruised from the surgery, but your calcium levels are now 2.83 so you can drop down from 4x600mg to 2x600mgs. Woohoo thinks me!  Only have to choke once a day now!
Then she said, You really look awful....Really? I ask? The new outfit doesn't make me look glowing with health? I told her if I had to continue feeling this bleeeeeeeeeeeping lousy I was going to do something very drastic. She looked at the results...What was your TSH before surgery again? 2.79, says me.....Oh....she says flatly....It's now 11.83  OH REALLY? Says I now understanding alot. AND your T4 is 18.3...but the good news is your T3 is 4.  Oh well, that is good news NOT! Suddenly the past 7 weeks from hell has all been explained to me. She then went on to say that I must have a problem with the absorption of the tablet...no kidding....I only TOLD you that prior to surgery I have to take 5 iron tablets to get the benefit of maybe just one...I have malabsorption syndrome you dumb woman!
So, you must be feeling bone tired...and out of it....I just gave her one of my classic "well dah!" looks.
So now i am up to 150mcg a day...and we shall see how that helps...if at all in 5 weeks.
All I can say is Hoo-bloody-ray I was right! Sigh......
Even better is now my cholesterol has rocketed in less than 2 months from 5.6 to 7 !!! So my doc says, don't eat red meat (I'm a vegetarian) drink non-fat milk ( I have for years) Don't eat cakes etc, ( I have not eaten them for years) and do some swimming..(hmm me thinks with my tiredness levels that the body they find floating in the pool will just me nodding off for a while, so please do not distrub)  So onto another itty bitty tablet per day! Could be coz I am hypothyroid now (always gets me that, how can I be hypothyroid when I technically don't HAVE a thyroid...should be called hypo-mental-crack-the poos-fall-down-dead syndrome! Hee hee) Could be coz it runs in the family too, but we will see in a few weeks what is happening there too.
So all in all a very interesting week......oh did I mention my old knee injury has flared up again.....Hashimoto's strikes again!
Untill next time dear fellow thyroidians....be good ! and if you can't be good, enjoy yourself!
From sunny Australia!

WOW - you are peeved!!! -- and rightfully so. What is dip $&!+ ---- Stay on them dear - and let me have it - You seem to know when the bottom is falling out on you - now let THEM know when it is too.

I sent my doctor a cheescake from a cake shoppe last week - for helping me so far as a nice gesture -- I had been a slight "pain" and wanted to make nice - nice.

I would of sent a bag of dog poo to yours letting them know they need to shape up!!!

Take care girlfriend

Obviously, all the endo's seem to have take some type of stupid pill.  What I think is that all the dumb endo's need to have a symposium with all the thyroid people on this board.  We will teach them a thing or two.  I think they are just thinking text book with us.  They don't want to step out of that box and think otherwise.

I was telling my endo what I learned here.  He raised his eyebrow and so did I.  Once we understood each other, we sat face to face and talked.  Let me start off by saying, I AM NOT CRAZY.....just because you have MD or whatever those letters are behind your name, do NOT mean you know my body better than I do.

I hope all goes well and you start to feel better.  In the meantime, grab your tinfoil hat and get your rocking chair ready.

Take care....Terri

I hope you are feeling a bit relieved now what a ordeal. I am about to lose my mind Endo 1 said 'it'll all work out your levels are all within range' & sent me home with a weight gain of 10+ kilos bloated & so tired I can barely stay awake.

I am seeing another Endo this Thursday after begging & crying at the GP for a referral.
I'm in Australia too  it's so hot today 34c atm !any tips on finding someone who won't dismiss me as a vain blonde ?

WHY do all Endo's think it's in our HEADS?  My goodness!  I told a Dr. once that's I"M not the crazy one!  Then left the office and never returned.  I found one who's a little better, but still questions alot of what I tell him.  I mean, did he think I PULLED my eyebrows out just so I would have to pencil them in?  Duh!  oh, and if anyone knows of a good cosmetic tattoo artist in New Jersey to give me some eyebrows back, I'd appreciate the referral!  LOL!
