Levothyroxine & burning skin

Can levothyroxine cause my skin to burn? I did not have this when I was taking the original Thyroxine

I had similar symptoms last week, with burning also in my muscles. It turned out that the new dosage was too much.  Unfortunately, because I waited to report my symptoms, I quickly went hyper and was approaching a thyroid storm (when levels are so high they are dangerous) within a week. Check any new symptoms with your doctor as soon as you notice, that way, if they are signs that your dosage is too high, they can treat/adjust quickly.

Oh ok thanks Goolarra, I didn't understand lol.
No I don't think I am, I will do the blood test and see how it goes.
It's weird because yesterday I was sat around all day in the sun and it really burned, and today I have been active and hot in the sun and it hasn't burned hardly at all.

You said, "I've read it can be from over medicating on thyroxine...".  When you are overmedicated, you are hyper.  I wasn't suggesting that this was a hyper symptom; I was reacting to your statement that you'd read it can be from overmedication.

Hyper (overmedicated) symptoms include:  heat intolerance, unexplainable weight changes, insomnia, anxiety, diarrhea, increased HR and/or BP, acne, etc.  You can google for a complete list.

I didn't realise this could be a hyper symptom, to be honest I don't know but I don't think so :)
Thanks again

It's always a good idea to keep up with blood work, so it sounds like you have a plan.  Do you have any other hyper symptoms?

Hi Goolarra.
Thanks
This sensation has only started just over a week ago, I thought it might be shingles, maybe new washing liquid, but it's on the same area and yesterday had a particularly strong burn, but other days feels like it is going. It's really weird lol

I have been on the same brand of thyroxine the whole time, and haven't changed dose. I've read it can be from over medicating on thyroxine, so I might have a new blood test to check my levels.

Cheers
Nikki

If you recently switched from a brand name to a generic or vice versa or switched brands, you might be sensitive to the fillers in the new meds.  Some people are sensitive or allergic to the fillers and changing brands eliminates the problem (different manufactureres use different fillers).

Danniabg, did this just start, or have you had it since starting meds?  If you've had it since starting, the same might apply to you.  I have not heard of that as a symptom of the active ingredients in thyroid meds of any kind.

I just thought I would tag onto this question, because I have developed a burning sensation, very similar to sunburn on my right hand side of my side/back area below my ribcage. There is no rash/marks, it feels hot and stingy but not itchy.
Does anyone have experience of this from being on Levothyroxine?
I've been on it for about 7 months.

Thanks in advance.
