Levothyroxine

My doctor doubled my dose of Synthroid from 50mcg to 100mcg and within 7-10 of being on the increased does I had more energy and actually lost 5 pounds.  Now I don't have half of that energy and have gained back the weight.  Why would this happen?  Do you think a T3 med will help?

Thank you and I hope you can help

I agree we need to know your exact levels of tsh, free t3 and free t4 before being able to comment. :)

That's a pretty hefty jump in meds.  It could be that the increase was just too much for you to deal with all at once.  You felt better initially, but once the dose built up in your system and began to stabilize, it might have been excessive (for you).

Do you have the results of FT3, FT4 and TSH, along with their reference ranges?  We could comment a lot more intelligently after seeing those.
