Thanks Barb135 for the reply. I know my FT3 is not even close to optimal. I have thought about Cytomel or NDT but I have tried those in the past with T4 medication and I still felt horrible and could never get the dosages right.

I just wanted to see other people's experiences with Levoxyl, especially with the new Levoxyl.

Levoxyl is the same as it was before it was recalled.  I've been on it since August 2014 and have done very well with it.

What T4 med & dosage were you on when you tried cytomel before? What dosage of cytomel and how did you take it - all at once or multiple times/day?

Typically, it seems that people tend to have less problems, with fillers when taking Levoxyl than Synthroid.  Both of them, at 50 mcg are dye-free.

It looks like you're still hypo... Your FT4 in February was at 61% of the range and in May it was 71%... both are over the recommended 50% for Free T4.  At the same time, your FT3 levels were only 25% and 29% respectively... It's recommended that FT3 be in the upper half to upper third of its range.

It looks like you could back off on the Levoxyl and try to get your doctor to add a small amount of T3 medication, such as cytomel or its generic counterpart, liothyronine.

You could talk to your doctor about alternating 25 mcg with 50 mcg for an average of 37.5 mcg/day, if s/he is willing to add some T3 medication...

For all practical circumstances your blood labs at least show almost identical results.  Which is not surprising since both dosages are identical with the identical active ingrediant (T4).  The differences are I think within the testing margin of effor for variation.

If anything your levels on Levoxyl are slightly higher but the amount is really insignificant compared to synthyroid.

Some people have sensitivities and allergies to different fillers etc within the pills.  It may be possible if you are feeling worse it is because of the filler, not because of your thyroid hormone levels.

Thanks flyingfool. It's amazing how the symptoms differ with the same dosage but with different brands.  I wonder why the TSH are totally different whereas the frees are very similar on both brands.

Synthroid has lactose which I may have sensitivity to since most people in my family have very gassy and bloated reactions to. The acacia in Synthroid is suspect too as I am allergic to grass and pollens but mostly grass.
