Welcome to the U.S.

The first thing you will need to do is find a doctor to treat your thyroid condition.  Since you have no job and no insurance, you should check out the county health department or other clinics that might treat you for free or on a reduced payment scale.

I'm not sure that thyrax is even available in the U.S, so you will probably be put on a generic T4 medication.  It's very inexpensive - when I was on generic, a 3 month supply was only around $10-$12.

When you go for your first appointment with the doctor, make sure they test the TSH, Free T3 and Free T4.  Your goal will be to get/keep FT3 and FT4 high enough in the ranges to alleviate symptoms.

If you have a 3 month supply of medication, you have time to find a doctor, but don't wait; you want to have a doctor/clinic before you really need them.

Best wishes on finding a job.  We're here whenever you need us.
