I need help

I need some encouragement, hopefully I can get some here. I have been on a rocky road since my surgery and radiation due to thryoid cancer. Man the LID was aweful...My radiation in March and still my synthroid is not adjusted. I was told to take my dosage in the morning with water and then my calcium and other meds later in the day. this is not working for me. I am lethargic first thing in the morning and seem to be my best mid afternoon. Everything I am reading is making me dizzy. My ENDO is a jerk. I had all my reports faxed to me yesterday and trying to be my own Doctor.  I am looking for a new one. The myopathy in my legs has returned and I know I need another adjustment with my synthroid. So...I have read various reports about taking my meds before bed. I have a difficult time sleeping so have meds for that too. Will the synthroid keep awake at night. So many questions. Someone out there gimme a hug.

Sometimes I think it's only me. I went thru the same thing as you with my last RAI a month ago. I am so tired all the time, muscle problems, no concentration, terrible burning in my nose from the RAI. When will we ever be back to normal??? I have to believe that we are the lucky ones though! Just know that you are not alone and I hope you feel better soon.

I am thinking of making a t-shirt saying "I'm a thyroid patient, remind me why I should be here!" (Has a double meaning!)
It will end. I know it sounds a feeble lousy few words. I know I have had a rough time, and it often just feels like forever, but I do try and stay focused on the good few hours a day I have. Sometimes we have to force ourselves into remembering there is some good.

One good thing is; you have all of us to listen and empathise with! Most of us are pretty much struggling too. So scream, yell, kick (oh you have sore legs, try punching instead, LOL!) and generally vent. We are here with you!

Well I am back to morning meds. Trying to get into a new ENDO have blood tests on wednesday. My legs are killing me with the constant pain of myopathy. I'm not a happy girl these days. Is this ever going to end? I don't know who I am any more :(

I have done the night time meds and its seems to be working. Course I need to give it some more time. Anything for more stamina and energy. Kinda tired of being so pooped. I used to be a real go getter.

Thanks evreyone.

I swapped to night time T4 meds early on in the healing process and found that it gave me horrendous nightmares so went back to taking T4 med in the morning.

Try it and see how you go.
You can always swap back.

First of all...sorry you are feeling bad, I know first hand how scary that is, I am there now.

There are alot of questions there, I would get some blood work done. (TSH, FreeT3, FreeT4)

Also, know that it can take a year to start to feel decent again.

If you have trouble sleeping already, I am not sure about taking the meds at night. I have never done this. I would think it would interfere with your sleep. On the other hand though, the synthroid has a long half life, so i am wondering if the pill you take that night even effects you at that present time? Doesn't really help you, but I guess it would be worth a try?

If you are not happy with your doctor, I would go to thyroid-info.com and find a dr in your state.

Hope this helps and hang in there
