You know what irritates me the most about doctors.....
If you are having trouble losing weight you are told "quit eating so much"
If you are losing weight unintentionally you are asked, "are you eating".
Either way, you would lose with any weight problem.....
I gained about 20lbs after my TT back in '94, but once my dose was found, I pretty much lost it and maintained for the last 13 yrs. My TSH levels started acting up about 2 yrs ago. I was becoming hyper, so kept having to lower dosage, now it is at a normal level, the last TSH test was .95, I currently take 125mcg Levothroid, but I have lost 34 lbs since Jan. 08. No not trying in anyway, my eating habits are the same. But like you guys I keep getting asked " are you eating?".
Some doctors think they can diagnos by just looking at your physical features and assume you are either not eating, or you are eating too much.
Yes can you tell I am so frustrated.....They can not figure out why I am losing the weight when blood work looks good.
I had my thyroidectomy a little over four months ago. I was 120 pounds and loving life...post surgery, I am 168 lbs. Hating life. .. hate getting dressed cannot even let my husband see me naked. I am terrified at how long this will need to go before they do something to help me. I am putting on weight so fast, and at such a freakishly intense rate, I just dont know what to do...
I am in the UK and went through thyroid cancer nearly 4 years ago now. I too am really struggling to loose the weight. I hate the way I look and find it very hard as dont feel like me!!! My doctor says I am on a fairly high dose as it is and I shold be loosing weight but for some reason I am not....it still annoys me as thy keep putting it down to what I eat!!! Same old story. All I want is to be back to the way I was before all this happened, it is hard enough to go through this sort of thing without the constant reminder each time you go to buy new clothes!!!!
I am 30 years old and had follicular cancer and a full thyroidectomy.
I am 20 and just had a tt about two months ago and im gaining weight like i did when i first found out i was hypothyroid and i hate it. i just want to be back normal again and i wish someone knew what to do about this!!
hi along with the weight gain i have hair loss sluggishness and still some brain fog i was changed from levothyroxine to eltroxin which is the generic my tsh is 0.08 and free t4 23 i have noticed recently that im gettin joint pain in my hips which i never had before and starting to get the anger/rage coming back i wish just for once to feel normal
I cannot tolerate what I should be on for cancer supression. But ea. case is a case by case thing. I can only tell you about mine. I suffer from awful anxiety, insomnia, sweats, hot flashes and lack of appetite TSH <1.0 which is ultimate for my cancer supression. however, mine is incidental, two small tumors, fully encapsulated partial thyroidectomy 1/07.
I am at TSH 1.8 75mcgs synthroid ................... at TSH 0.667 I had word retreival issues and awful insomnia + symptoms above.
I have seen many on this forum have the joint pain which goes away with dose change and/or switch to name brand to generic or vice versa.
I am not a Dr., just a patient and can share as it affected me.
Others may join in too,

I have problems sleeping, dry skin, and am very tired all the time. It just seems that no matter what I try, after the first 5 to ten pounds it doesn't want to budge. The aches in my joints don't help much either.
Do either of you have any side effects (other than the wt gain) on that dosing of meds?
Cheryl
