I'm so glad you liked it!!
WOW! I loved the talk by Michael Holick, PhD, MD!!! A+++ Very informative!
Thank you for finding that! I hate reading dry, boring studies and his video/powerpoint made everything so clear! He also confirmed what my doc has been saying all along that D2 is fine to take and will be converted by the body into D3. Also confirmed what I'd been guessing about my of the health issues I'd had prior to finding the thyroid cancer. THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Anyone interested in Vit D and/or calcium deficiencies should watch this!!!
Thanks for the site!
I was taking the Vitamin D for about 3 weeks before I really started to feel better. But, the overall feeling of "well-being" was amazing. I hadn't felt pain free in a long time. Stick with it...it will get better.
The Cytomel might be making you feel good. The combo of the 2 should make you feel a lot better in the next few weeks. When I first started the Cytomel (when Vitamin D was normal) I felt better than I have in 7 years!
I don't know what the underlying cause is...thyroid? I have no idea. I am going to talk to my chiropractor, who has been telling me that I have "leaky gut" for about 9 months to see what he recommends. He swears that is my problem and that is why I have so many issues. We'll see. I will keep you posted.
I do have pains in my feet. It hurts to walk sometimes. I actually have had this for years and it finally went away with the Vitamin D. I wonder how long I have actually been suffering with this problem? I lived in NC when it started and didn't get too much sun because it was so hot in the summer. I guess my goal will be to get more sun everyday starting in the Spring.
I read that too much sun can actually make you feel sick when you are deficient in Vitamin D. Maybe that's why I always felt terrible when we would go to the pool.
Sometimes unstable levels can cause the aches and pains you describe.
If I am Hypo, I get a pain in the groin and going DOWN the leg and if I am hyper I get a burning pain shooting UP my leg under the foot.
Weird but true lol.
After my thyroidectomy my Vitamin D tested at 13. I was put on 50,000 iu once a week and have been on it for about 8 months now. My last test was normal, I think 35 but my doc said I need to keep on it for 2 more weeks. He's gonna check it again and if I'm okay I'm gonna go on the over the counter stuff. And that worries me because I take Prilosec and I can't take Calcium Citrate because I won't absorb it. So I have to take Calcium carbonate which makes me all stopped up if you know what I mean! Not looking forward to that. But I DO get a lot of sunshine. I live in Texas and I run in the sun for 45 minutes everyday. So why am I low?
HI,
I'm Lori and I think we are in the same boat. My vitamin D is 15 and I too am on Synthroid and Cytomel (just started the latter about a week) ago). I started on 50,000 vitamin D per week for two months. In doing my ususal self help internet research, I found the link below interesting. In the video the Dr says anyone in the northeast; that's both of us, is not getting any natural Vitamin D during the winter months. I think that the "normal" range of D is 30-100, making your number of 35 a low normal. Also, what is the underlying cause of the D deficiency? If it is from something other than the thyroid disease, you have to find what the cause is or it will keep on getting depleted every time you stop taking the vitamin D. Can I ask you how long it took after you started taking the D until you felt better? I feel a bit better and I don't know if it's the Cytomel, the D, or placebo! Also, I started having foot cramps. Did you get this too? Is it normal? Please paste the link below and let me know what you think. Good luck and let us know your test results.
Lori
