Low calcium after thyroidectomy

My daughter is 35 and has two small (6 and 7) children.  She was diagnosed about 5 years ago and after a long series of meds she went the radioactive deal and that did not work at all.  Last October, almost 2 years ago the thyroid was removed.  She looked and felt so well that I was excited to hear her laugh for the first time in ages. Then she became so tired again, and she sleeps 23 hours a day. Her doctor now wants a blood test for calcium because her hands are drawing up.  Can low calcium cause tiredness too?? She was on a pill but says it is too large to swallow.  I am disgusted and depressed. is there any relief in sight for her?  her thyroid levels approaching normal but I want to know if the tiredness can be attributed to the calcium.  Please help.

Sound about right. Lack of Vit.D seems to have a big connection to thyriod problems.

That tablet to help with absorption is probably Vit.D.

Sorry forgot to say you should ask for complete vitamin and mineral test while you are having your calcium test as tiredness could be associated with other deficiencies such as iron. Low calcium levels can also cause other deficiencies so it is all linked. bestest.

My girlfriend had problems with calcium absorption and was taking 8 tablets (very large per day) later they added another tablet small to help with the absorption and the number  of calcium she had to take was reduced. Sorry don't know the name of the tablet but I am sure your doctor will.
