Lupus and Thyroid Disease

I had my thyroid ablated in early Sept. 07 and started taking Synthroid in January.   Prior to this Iwas hospitalized and dx with Graves Disease.    My question is after monthsof replacement hormones I am still coming up with numbers like 25.84 and I know norm is .3-5.   I also have Lupus..Do you feel the lupus has anything to do with the slow recovery from the hypothyroism that has occured as a results of my ablation....Thank you

Ihave had thyroid problems since early 70's and then developed lupus in 1993. I guess I am lucky because only have flareups now and then. Unlucky  because I am allergic to steroids.  My whole family thinks I am nuts now to have my thyroid removed but once you take it out the body just moves on to another site to attack. Seen it so many times before as a nurse and with my own mother. I'll just keep my thyroid huge and where I can see it. LOL!  Hope this helps.

I don't know much about any thyroid issues but I have read on this sight that an autoimmune disease can bring on others.  Did they check your thyroid antibodies?  There is an autoimmune thyroid disease and that could be your problem. (I think)
