Lymphocytic thyroiditis with NO thyroid!

A year ago I had a thyroglossal duct cyst and my thyroid totally removed.  Both had papillary thyroid cancer.  I also had 85 lymph nodes removed, but all were normal.  Now I have a cyst just above my right collar bone that was found by ultrasound 6 months ago.  It was then aspirated but nothing of concern was found.  I just had another ultrasound and needle biopsy of the cyst and this time the pathology report's descriptive diagnosis is

"Lymphocytic thyroiditis with very dominant lymphoid component.  Note: The lymphoid component appears reactive however, recommend flow cytometry study with next FNA."

My doctor told me I have inflammation of the thyroid, but how can that be since I have no thyroid?  My blood work indicates my T4 is 10.6 and my Thyroglobulin, Quantitative is <0.5.  Any suggestions?

My doc is in an endocrinology group that's supposed to be one of the best in my area.  That said I already had questions about the thoroughness of care prior to this diagnosis.  My solution short of finding a new doc was to email my surgeon that removed my thyroid and tell him what's going on.  He personally phoned my endo and reviewed all my studies with her.  Together they decided that in  2 months I'll have another ultrasound and needle biopsy of the cyst.  It will be tested for thyroglobulin.  If it is negative then there's nothing to worry about, and if it's positive then my thyroid surgeon will remove the cyst.  For now I'll see what happens.  Still prone to changing endo's though.  I just don't have any recommendations where I live.  I haven't been here long and I don't know who to ask.

How, indeed?  What did your dr say when he found out you have no thyroid?  Or has he heard?  Either way, I'd go for a doc, naturopath or holistic, and definitely a new lab.  Could be they'd have to run your labs again, free of charge, so you'd see what a 2nd set of labs indicate, but under no circumstances would I stick with this outfit.  There may be a medical reason for this, but any dr worth his salt should have explained it, if there is.  Good luck in finding answers.  Tell us what you learn about it.
