I have been struggling for 8 years with symptoms of hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism. I have had my thyroid checked every year at my annual physicals. The test results have always come back normal but on the borderline of normal. Just recently I went to the doctors office due to my SX getting much worse. My heart rate was 110 all the time, I was always flushed, my moods were terrible and I had been feeling SO tired among many other SX. They checked my thyroid again and here were the results....
On 8/15/2008
TSH: 0.01 (0.35-5.50)
T4, Free: 2.25 (0.61-1.76)
The MD stated that I was now hyperthyroid. They did a test were I had to take a radioactive pill and they looked at my thyroid and could see the hyperactive areas.
I wanted my labs done one more time just because I feel that I have such SX of both hyper and hypothyroidism and this confuses me.
So on 10/2/2008 I had the labs run again
TSH: 0.01 (0.35-5.50) Did not change
T4, Free: 1.71 (0.61-1.12) Changed dramatically and the WNL parameters changed.
I am so confused about this???
I have been advised to have a thyroid ablasion done. This is were you take a radioactive pill and it is supposed to kill the hyperactive cells on your thyroid???? Or atleast this is what I understand.
I am nervous to do this with the lab results fluctuating so much.
Can anyone help direct me in the right direction?
