Mouth Sores

I've seen posts from others who get sores/ulcers in the mouth.  I've been getting them rather badly.  Sometimes, if I rinse my mouth with listerine a couple times/day, they will go away in a day or two, but now I've got one that isn't leaving.  I do have a denture and I thought at first that's what was causing the sore, but I think not.  It's getting harder every day to eat anything but soft food -- well, that would be good for the weight, but not very healthy.

What gets rid of it?

It usually is associated with a PH level issue Barb - espeically with a thyroid condition.

Try balancing out your pH levels and see if that helps. Its a quick fix for many - if you catch it early

I tried the salt wash this morning.  It does seem to sooth it some - now I'm trying to figure out how to carry it with me, so I can keep it up throughout the day.  I've also been putting orajel on it -- yes, it numbs it AND says on the tube, it's supposed to help heal it -- been using it for 2 days and don't see a difference.  I'm hoping the salt water does it.

Tamra -- I've been on cytomel for almost a year and my levels are not high -- they are barely mid range, so I can't say I can see a relationship there; but at this point, I'm not ruling out anything.  I've had this about 3 times in the past 2-3 months.

Appreciate your suggestions.

I haven't had the sores since the days of my hyper swings. Last month when I started Cytomel, the sores came back on the higher dose, so I'm back to the .5 dose Cytomel. I am drawing a connection between high T3 and mouth sores. That is how it is with me, anyway.

I have one I am recovering from now.  The only thing that helps me is chewing a asprin and putting it on the spot to disolve.

Thanks, Dawn -- I've been using listerine and it worked for a while, but not for this one.  I tried peroxide this morning and that seems to have worked better, but it's so hard to carry it with me during the day because I'm not in an office setting.  I'll try the salt water tonight and tomorrow morning -- maybe that will work better.

I didn't eat hardly at all today because it hurt so bad.........appreciate the tip.
