My TSH level is normal but still I have all hypothyroid symptoms

About  myself:
Feamale, Single
Age=30 years
Country=India

I'm hypothyroid since I was 11 years old. But the initial dignosis about thyroid was made when I was 20 years old.
Since then I'm taking Eltroxin. I have tried various  combinations in Eltroxin like 50, 100, 150mg.

But I have all the symptoms of hypothyrodism like MAJOR constipation, dry skin, thin hair, dipression...etc.

Doctor does not listens to my complaints as he says TSh is normal.

I daily walk for 7 km, I do Prnayaam, I take healthy food, Every day I eat 2 Guavas (as it is good for constipation)
But still I am constipited.

I am really dipressed.

Can you please help me?

You won't really know about your thyroid status as long as the doctor depends only on TSH.  TSH is a pituitary hormone that is affected by so many variables that it is inadequate as a diagnostic for thyroid problems.  You really need to know the levels of the actual, biologically active thyroid hormones, free T3 and free T4 (not total T3 and total T4).

FT3 is the most important because it is four times as active as FT4, plus FT 3 largely regulates metabolism and many other body functions.  Studies have also shown that FT3 correlates best with hypo symptoms.

In my opinion the best way to treat a hypo patient is to test and adjust levels of FT3 and FT4 with whatever medication is necessary to relieve symptoms, without being constrained by resultant TSH levels.  Many members report that symptom relief for them required that FT3 was adjusted to the upper part of its range and FT4 adjusted to at least midpoint of its range.  Symptom relief should be all important.  If your doctor refuses to treat you for symptoms in this manner you will need to find a good thyroid doctor that will do so.

I am 79. I am taking Eltroxin 100 microgram since last 30 years. It is good that you are doing pranayam or yoga and taking care of your health. If the dose is adequate and tests are normal, you need not worry much about thyroid problem. However you have to take test regularly.
Some issues continue in spite of normal thyroid. I did Agnisar kriya for 30 years and I constipation free. But now since 5 years I do have the constipation off and on. Gas, Acidity, are also there. I do many exercises for stomach, stomach self massage also.
I want to do Laghu Snkhprakshalan (Drinking four glass of water-slightly saline- and so 5 asanas of Sankhprakhalan. This can definitely help.
Constipation is a peculiar problem. Some therapy helps you for some time and the same therapy becomes useless with the same person. So one has to change now and then. Continue your search in the web site, do yoga and do sankhprakshlan in the presence of a teacher once. Then you can do Laghu snkh prakshalan every day.
I do acupressure, shiatsu, and many other modalities. I confess that I did not get total relief for gastrointestinal problem, tight feeling in feet, tinnitus, and insomnia (I take restyl since 1991. I tried many therapies to get rid of the habit of restyl without any result.
I am 79 and nearing 80 so I do not expect a complete cure. But you are young and the whole life is before you. You should consult some yoga teacher or naturopath and continue treatment. As for medicine, eltrox is the only medicine. This must be taken without fail. All my siblings have hypothyrodism. We all take eltroxin. I am from Indore (India) I am deaf( use hearing aid) my vision is low. I am using magnifying glass or magnified text to read. I have age related Macular deterioration. In our family we all have very long expiry date but short dated organs. Do take care. Sorry for long post.
You may visit gastrentrologist who may do some test and find out if there is any other issue with your digestive system. Read about constipation in different website, you will find lot of views. Even definition of constipation differ from person to person. If you pass 3 mothions in a week, doctor do not consider as constipation.Ok
