My own rambling...

Hi all,
I am so very greatful for this forum that I can come on and write about my concerns and fears and all of you understand what it feels like. I am getting nervous about my surgery on Tues. not because of the proceedure but because my 2 year granddaughter gave me a really rotten cold this past week and I am coughing and conjested and afraid of having a cough with a slit in my throat! I had hoped it would be over by now but it seems to be hanging in there...I have sucked down a bottle of Zicam and have slurpped 3/4 a bolle of Nyquil and still am coughing and full of phlem...I refuse to postpone my surgery but do you think it will matter that I am coughing?

On a brighter note I have managed to lose 16 lbs. on Mary Shomons "Thyroid Diet" so I guess there is a silver lining in an other wise dark cloud. Thats about all of my ramble rage...thanks for listening!
Lisa

You'll do great!!  How wonderful what your church did for you!  :-)

I'm still not back to "normal" (whatever that is) since the thyroid storm but I'm down to 15mcg of Synthroid and haven't had to take a Beta Blocker for a few days.  There's hope.  :-)

Best wishes and tons of prayers - you'll be just fine!

I had a nasty head/chest cold for me 2nd surgery too.  I told the surgeon and she told the anesthesiologist before-hand.  The surgeon told me not to tell the nurses on the surgical prep because they would turn me down.

The surgeon and anesthesiologist met with me before I was wheeled in.  The surgeon made sure I was given extra antibiotics in my IV and the anesthesiologist did tons of extra suction (throat, sinuses) before intubating me.  I felt great for about 24 hours after the surgery (then it came back).  No one wanted to postpone the surgery and it all went smoothly (until I sneezed the next day - ouch!)

Fingers crossed for Tuesday!  Let us know!!!

Coughing isn't too too too bad and you have until Tues to rid this out of your system to a better degree of tolerance .... I would be honest with the anesthesiologist (?spelling) when they ask about cough and mucous and all that stuff but I think by then you'll be doing better.

UGH .. just what you need now .. Oh, sneezing is a killer, coughing you will have to do after the surgery anyway bcz of the tube they use.

well sis I am sorry you have a cold.Drink lots of water and OJ and take some vitamin c.It really seems to help. They will probably put antibiotics in your IV.Plus things will calm down with the anesthesia and other meds they give you.
I know about the grandkids passing on their germs being the little germ factories they are.(My 3 grandsons live with us)So hang in there and it will be ok.You are on the homestretch.I send you prayers and e- hugs for good surgery.
Love Venora.
