NDT + synthroid?

Is anyone taking NDT plus synthroid?  Endo would not prescribe but went to Naturopath today and he gave me a script for synthroid 25 mcg to take in addition to 2 gr Naturethroid.  T4 is low and T3 is high normal.  Trying to raise T4 only.  Any thoughts?

Since Synthroid is T4, and T4 builds slowly in your blood over time, timing is not critical on a daily basis.  However, you should take it at about the same time every day, and it's very important to take it on an empty stomach, so most people take it first thing in the morning.  You shouldn't eat or drink anything for half to one hour after taking it.  I'd probably start by taking it with your first dose of NT in the morning.  If that doesn't work out for some reason, you can experiment with what works best for you.

Thank you for the reply.  I asked my Endo to do this and he said "That doesn't make sense".  Makes me a little uneasy to try since the "expert" said no but I am willing to try it.  I know I should be able to feel better than I do.   I would like some advice on how to take these.  Right now I am taking 1 gr of Naturethroid in early am and 1 gr around 2pm.  Where should I fit in the synthroid?

Sorry, that should read "That's exactly what you need to do to raise FT4 without raising FT3."

My bad...my apologies.

That's exactly what you need to do to raise FT3 without raising FT4.  It sounds like a good plan to me.  Retest in 4-5 weeks, reevaluate symptoms and go from there.
