an OB GYN (better a female one than not) will get you basic help you need and with you taking "control" of your female health issues most OB's will show you how to get supplement expense care and work out a payment plan if need be. Women's health is there business and hormones are really there speciality. I have a great female OB - I have insurance - but I have seem what she does for her patients. How by the way - she is a PA to an OB GYN doctor. and the OB is a male. It does help when a OB has a terrific assistant to see you.
Don't mess around if you know you need treatment for this - In the long run it could cost you more than just a couple of office visits. and then where will you be if that happens?
Lindsey,
I agree with DLA. You will need to see a doctor. You need to know what the bump/lump is and what type. You will want to be tested and possibly get scan and U/S to confirm or deny whats there.
Try your public healthcare facilites and see what they can do or IF they can do anything for you. This thyroid thing is a mystery for all of here, however most of us has seen some type of doctor to prescribe meds and/or treatment.
I am hyper as well and this thing is no joke. It makes you think you are crazy. I haven't seen a lot of hypers here, but when I asked the question, no one wanted to be hyper, but preferred to be hypo if they had to be anything.
If you have a regular MD, see if they can help you or know of someone or an agency who can help. BTW, check in your area to see if there are any research hospitals or schools. They may be able to help or the doctor on site might be able to point you in the right directions.
Best of luck to you.... Please do not look for a quick fix.
I don't think anyone of us here has had a quick fix to this thyroid thing.
We are here to help as much as we can, and listen when you need to vent.
Be blessed.....Terri
PS... if possible, see if family members can help you get to at least one visit with the endo. If its hyper.. I really suggest seeing an endo dr.
If you can get a prescription for antithyroid med, it's pretty cheap without insurance.
Sorry, not without a dr. You really need an endo. I understand about the expense. Have you checked into all the state agencies that might be able to offer you some help on the expenses? Would check and see if you qualify for anything or if there is just anything they can do to help you. Don't know how it works down there, but if there is something like a county health dept. that would be a good place to start.
