Neck Pain

I have an underactive thyroid and have been on Synthroid for several years.  My dose is now 1.37 daily.  I take a light blue pill.  Anyway, I was at my daughters.  I was on the phone and she handed me my granddaughter (6 mos about 21 lbs).  It was awkward.  After that I noticed a pain on the left side of my neck.  It's sore to the touch and when I swallow.  It's like a black & blue - meaning it feels bruised.  This started about 4 days ago and hasn't gotten any better.  Did I pull a muscle or is it something to do with my thyroid?

If the swollen area moves up as you swallow it may be related to thyroid

I went to my chiropractor yesterday and got an adjustment.  He examined my neck,  found the swelling and suggested I see my GP.  I have an appointment today.  It's been 5 days.  Massage won't work, it hurts too much.  Thanks for all your advice.  Cheryle

I really tend it was pulled out - this does not sound like a symptom of a thyroid acting up.

You can do a thyroid neck check - which I encourage all people to do each month.

Otherwise seek a massage therapist and have a wonderful message - see if that helps. Also - take an Alieve tablet and see if that brings some relief.
