Need Support

Hello
I have posted before but have since had some things happen.  After going for an US, blood work, and an uptake scan, I was referred to an endocrinologist.  I had my appointment yesterday which was pretty traumatic for me.  He did another US and did not like what he saw.  He mentioned that at least one of my nodules was irregularly shaped and had characteristics that looked pretty bad.  He also found a lymph node that he thought looked suspicious as well.  In all, I had nine biopsies done with accompanying US.  After all was said and done he said he would actually be pretty surprised if this did not come back malignant.  He seems fairly sure. He said that this didn't just happen over night; that he estimates that I have had this for 10-15 years!  He also mentioned that he was checking for some auto immune diseases.  He pretty much said that either way he is sure I will at least need my whole thyroid removed, if not some lymph nodes.  So now, I AM FREAKING OUT!!!  I have so many questions....

If they find there is in fact a problem with my lymph nodes, is this really bad?  Does this make my survival rate go down?  Does this mean it has spread?

How could I have caught this sooner?  I am very diligent about getting blood work done, seeing DR's regularly.  No one caught this....

What am I possibly in for?  Radiation?  Chemo?  I know meds for life....

Please help!  Any reassurance and information is welcome.  I have done some research here but I'd really love to here from real people with real experience.

Thank you all!
Cindy

I'm sorry your having a tough time.  Hopefully, the doctor will be proven wrong, but if not, this website should help answer a lot of your questions.

Hi there,
Me OKAY. 30 years old. Had a Biopsy came back negative for cancer. FNB... I was not happy. I wanted it OUT! My thyroid that is. Okay so first lobectomy May 5th... DX Paillary Carcinoma. Second thyroid surgery for a complete thyrodectomy and neck dissection for lymph node spread.
OKAY first off DO not panick....

If it is cancer it is usally easily treated and if not cured spread or not.

They treat the more common types of cacner of the thyroid are papillary and follicular.

I had 150 Millicuries of Radio Active Iodine and I think, I might have a reoccourence.... WELL see in a few months.

No. it is what it is, and caught when it is caught... There are not to many signs or symptoms of Thyroid Cancer. This is a GREAT place to talk and learn about people. Not much activity on the board today but hang in there! People will repond!!! I am still learning.
