Need e-hugs

Okay, this is a bit off topic but y'all are my buddies and it's all medical related.

Tomorrow I go in for my ERCP - a procedure where they run a tube down your throat, into your stomach, then into the bile ducts and liver.  This is to try to see why I'm having on-going liver problems since my last RAI scan.  I had my gallbladder removed about 5 years ago but this has felt like the worst, on-going gallbladder attack that just isn't stopping.  My CT, EGD, and colonoscopy were all normal but my ALP level is still elevated and the pain (and vomiting, sweating, and diarrhea) is just getting worse by the day.    Plan is to scope it out, take a look, run iodine through the bile ducts looking for scarring, then possibly install a shunt.      Just in time to flush the iodine out over the next few months then do it all over again with RAI this fall.  :-/

Yeah, I'm more nervous dealing with the ERCP tomorrow than I would be walking into another thyroid surgery!

Enough about me.  My daughter . . . yes the one with no thyroid (atypical nodules) and who is bipolar . . . is 12 weeks pregnant.  Her BP has been a bit high so she went in for a BP check today.  The OB/GYN called her into her office and said she just got the pap smear results back.  She told my *freaked out* daughter that her results were beyond "atypical" and were in the moderate to severe category - next level would be full-blown cancer.  She is negative for HPV so they don't want to do anything more for treatment right now than a vinegar treatment.   The doc told my daughter that there is a good chance that it will become full-blown cancer before the delivery but they can't do anything until the baby comes.

Hey all.

A huge thanks (sniffle) - you guys rock!

I'm going to be here for at least a few more days.  The levels I mentioned above just keep climbing.  My lipase (sp?) is supposed to be around 100.  Yesterday it was at 3611.  Today is over 20,000!!!!!!

Argh -  this stuff $ucks.  And I can't have anything besides ice chips too.

Oh Utah - OMG I am just in the dumps b/c of this hun.  Was gone over the weekend and I just read up on you.  Sending TONS OF LOVE, HUGGLES AND SNUGGLES your way for you and your daughter!  Let us know how you are!  Much love my dear, you both will pull through this fine.  Even on medicaid, she has to be able to get a second opinion on something like this, right?  Or at the vary least, a specialist / oncologist / etc., that could give her treatment options other than wait it out until the baby is born, right?

Sorry to hear that you are still in the hospital and that you are in so much pain. :(  So I guess the pancreatitis is what was making you feel so bad?  I have a family member that had the same things happen to her once.  The scar tissue narrowed the intestine and caused her to feel sick and then in a lot of pain.  I feel so bad for you and hope you feel better soon!   While you are in there they can figure out what all is wrong at one time with you so that you can come home feeling better, not have all of the pains and get everything back to there normal limits.  I truly hope and pray you feel better soon!  Take care {{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}

hey michelle sorry about u misfortune with u daughter and u hope u get better soon i still have thyroid tissue in neck they want a ultra sound sooner than next year im being carefully watched can thyroid grow back there or u recons it disolves ;)

Hey all - thank you so much for all of the wonderful thoughts.

I'm still in the hospital, using a laptop I convinced my fiance' to bring over.   So much for outpatient procedure, eh?   They found my bile duct partially blocked so they opened it up.  When I woke up in recovery I was in KILLER pain so they ran x-rays.  It looks like I may have a partial small bowel obstruction from scar tissue (probably from the RAI since that was when the pain started).  We are going to have more imaging run in the morning.

Then, to top it all off, I'm having a MASSIVE pancreatitis attack.  My levels are supposed to be in the low 100s and are over 3000.  I'm a bit drugged so I can't tell you exactly which labs but I know there is lipase, amylase, etc. and they are all completely off the charts.

I'm here for the next 2-3 days sucking on ice chips and hooked up to a pain pump.   :-(

It doesn't matter how old our children are, we worry about them.  You seem to have more worries than most.  They say that God doesn't give us more than we can handle, but I''m sure you want to say "Give me a break.!"  As parents, all we can do is love our children and do the best we can by them.  I'm sure you are doing all of that already.  It seems simplistitic to advise positive thoughts, but it does help.  Meditation also helps and so does Yoga.  All of these things help me, but I don't always do them.  We can only do the best we can - for ourselves and for our families.  You have many people who care about you (because you seem to care for others as well).  Prayers, good thoughts and good luck are being sent to you by all - including me.  Good luck and God bless...
