New Dr - More Tests and perhaps other "issues"

Because I was very unsatisfied with the Dr. I saw 2 weeks ago who did 2 hypo tests (TSH and T4), said I was withing "normal range" and get me some Metformin to help with weight loss (haven't lost anything yet btw), I went to see another Dr. a friend referred me to on Tuesday.  He was so much more detailed with me!  I brought a list of symptoms with me just to ensure I wouldn't forget anything!

He not only told me that I do have alot of the symptoms for Hypo but also Growth Hormone Deficiency (I'm not a very tall person, about 5'4")! That other doctor never even mentioned it (and I think she just gave me the drug for the weight loss and perhaps she thought that was my ONLY reason for seeing her.  It wasn't at all. She never even touched on the other symptoms, just the weight gain).

Anyways, this is what he tested on Tuesday:
Hemoglobin A1C
Somalomedin
T-3 Free
T-4 Free
TSH
Thyroid Peroxidase Antibiodies

This will help with results for "regular" tyroid problems, also Hasimoto's and GHDeficiency

Today I spent 2 1/2 hours here having a ACTH Stimulation Test. That was fun. Ugh.  Blood drawn for a baseline, an injection into my hand and 3 other draws every half hour.

I also have to do a 5 hr Glucose test in July as well.

I should have the first results back tomorrow. Today's next week.

He was VERY attentive and listened to me and acknowledges that something is in fact wrong with me and he WILL one by one determine what it is not!

My arms and hand look like I'm a drug addict at the moment and hurt like hell, but I know in the end, it will all be worth it!

This was my original post a couple weeks ago:

I finally went to the Endo last week because of all the symptoms I am having and thought I was having an issue with my thyroid.  Tests came back within the "normal" range.

I am a 43 yr old female

.
I have Fibromyalgia and have for over 10 years, so I'm achy, but to me that's just "normal".
I have gained (according to them 50lbs but according to my scale about 35lbs in 9 months).  I work out 3-4 days a week.  I have a pretty decent diet, not big on junk food.
I'm always tired (I even yawn at the gym!!) regardless of how much sleep I get.
I have zero sex

drive.
Dry/Brittle Hair
My hands

get cold for no reason.
I have bad night sweats

Constipation
My mood swings are horrid
Dry skin (but I live in Colorado...so it's normal for here).

The only tests the Endo did was the TSH

and Free 4. Along with 2 for diabetes (thankfully those are "normal" and I don't believe that's the issue anyways).

She put me on Metformin to help with the weight loss.  But has stated "your thyroid is not the reason for your weight gain". Great...but something is!  I'm not eating McDonalds every day or a dozen jelly donuts a day!

She never once addressed my Fibromyalgia as an underlying problem.

I have a friend who has been diagnosed, and she thinks I should go to her Dr. who does much more extensive testing.

If I don't get myself "fixed", it'll probably be an end to my relationship. Not due to the weight gain (he's been very supportive with this), but more the mood swings.  I'm not pleasant to be around sometimes.

I don't think the endo did enough to find out what is really happening..just put me on a drug for weightloss instead.

Suggestions on what other tests should be done? I know my body..and this is NOT me.  Something is off and I need to find out what the root cause is.

Thanks!!

What type of doctor is this new one?  pcp? endo? naturopath?

I'm puzzled by the growth hormone issue.... your profile doesn't give a gender, or age....... so I'm left thinking this doctor might not be all he's cracked up to be.

I'm only 5' tall and no doctor has ever suggested that there might be a GH issue.

Your post leaves a lot of questions unanswered.

What prompted that test?
