Dr didn't say anything about any special calcium suplements , just to take the tums to be safe. He doesn't foresee anymore troubles, thankfully. I really like this Doc alot, wish he was a general pract and not the specialist!! LOL He is a GOOD guy and so informative and willing to sit down and talk you know.... Right now he is just having me stay put on the dose of Levoth that I am on and in a few weeks we'll do bloodwork to check it. I am feeling good so I dont' know that we'll even have to change it, but time will tell.
What do you know about body temps changing after surgery?? I have always been one to be hot all the time now I am freezing 1/2 the time too! Crazy! My fingers and upper arms and nose get sooo cold but the rest of me will be fine. Then an hour later I am roasting hot? I am too young to be doing the menop thing (I hope!) and it didn't start till' I had the surgery..... weirdness. My body is totally freaking out I tell ya.
One thing the Dr told me for sure to do is take a Vit E supplement. Take 2 gels a day - he said it will help tremedously with hair, nails, skin and then to use Vit E oil/balm on my scar several times a day too. He says that is the best thing for all my symptoms that I am having.
Thanks! More Later.

Glad to hear your visit went well. I noticed that my voice was a little lower pitched, too, after surgery. But now it's back to where it was. Has your doctor said anything about calcitrol? It helps your body absorb calcium better. I was on it along with my mega dose calcium supplements after surgery. I was on them for about 4-6 weeks, I can't really remember how long. Has he checked your parathyroids? I got mine checked at 4 or 6 weeks and it was after that I was able to cut back & then stop my supplements. Those little guys can get out of whack easily and can affect your calcium levels. Have a great night.

I'm still taking calcium supplements (I'm supposed to take 3 a day until after the RAI). I have dropped to 2 a day (I take the Viactive chews, which aren't too bad. Not great, but not bad.) because I can't remember to take the stuff during the work day (my mind is elsewhere). So, is the only way to find out that you aren't maintaining the right calcium levels on your own to stop taking the supplements and wait for symptoms to occur? I can't quite figure that out. It seems that if you are taking supplements, then testing the level isn't going to tell you much other than the supplements are keeping you in the normal range.
