What is rapid growth in a thyroid nodule.

Just under a month ago I had an ultrasound of my thyroid. The left lobe showed a large multinodular goitre, the left lobe also showed up hot on the nuclear scan, the right showed 6 nodules the largest measured 38mm x 14mm this nodule is solid and was cold on the nuclear scan, all the other nodules were smaller than 10 mm. Today I had a second biopsy done on the largest nodule on the right side( the first biopsy didn't contain enough cells). I asked my specialist if she could ask for the measurements because I felt that the nodule had grown. Today it measured 43mm x 19mm. Is this considered fast growing?

I wish I could answer your ?  That seems like a few mm's in a short period of time, but I'm not qualified to answer.  You should definitely touch base with your Dr and let us know.

Sorry you have to wait and that you had to have it retested, but at least they are on top of this.
