Nodules on Thyroid

Long story short, I had a CT of my neck for another reason (which was a nonissue).  However, the CT did show a 1.6 cm nodule on the right lobe of my Thyroid and a slight inhomogienty of the left lobe. I go for a sonogram in six months, and dependent on those results, we will see where we go from there.

Should this be a concern?

Had my follow-up UltraSound today.  No real comments from the tech or the dr that read the pictures.  Go to my doc Friday PM for the results.  Yippee!

I figure if they didn't say anything today, then there's not a lot to be concerned about.  Hopefully!

and I don't know what tests you had for thyroid, but TSH is not the only indicator of a thyroid issue.  The other "biggies" are the free t3 and free t4.  There are people out here that are very knowledgeable about such things...so if you can post your results, they may be able to give you some input also...The endocrinologist is a good plan.

Thank you for your reply.  To be honest I was surprised by the dx since I had just had TSH, etc tested about three months ago and everything was fine; but not surprised because every test I have had in the last 6 months has found something other than what the test was looking for.  Not complaining mind you, just find it a little funny!

I am very thankful that they have these tests and know what to do.

I have an appointment with my pcp in a couple of weeks and plan to give his the CT report.  I will probably ask him to recommend an Endo dr since I know nothing about any of the ones in town.

Again, thanks for you reply - it did help to ease concerns.

Many people have thyroid nodules without knowing. Studies show that only 5% are cancerous. I would recommend that you consult with a endocrinogist for advice. Due to fact that my largest nodule is 3.7cm...that caused for concern to have a fna (fine needle biopsy) of the nodule. Although the results were benign...I was suggested to have removal of the thyroid due to the abnormal cells that were present on the ct scan report. Everyone has there own situation and no matter what..it's always good to have more than one opinion. If you are concerned..seek a endocrinologist and see what they say.
