Okay so what your basically telling me is there isn't a cure? I thought the goal of synthroid was to make you hypo?? I have cut way back on my sugars, Im only on keflex because my body came immuned to the amoxi. so does that mean i still will have hashimotos? Or hyper, so confused lol! Anyway Im pms and I do always ge constipated from that. I only take ibu for the cramping and the excessive water weight no more than twice a day just started it the other day. My teeth are killing me now, so that probably means the infection is going away. I think I will get a hold of my body once I get my teeth fixed. Should I ask the doc how big my goiter is? Are you guys taking your temperature throughout the day??? Do you think armour is a better choice??? Thanks for your help
Hi, I am a long term Hashimoto's sufferer. I think what you are experiencing with the constipation is the iboprufen. Regardless if you take a stool softener, you probably need more fibre like in Benefiber and similar products.
You will find that regardless of the Hashimoto's many people start to slow down around 2 to 5pm too. Having Hashimoto's makes it harder to cope with that pooped out feeling. Try hard to avoid caffeine type drinks or chocolate or sugar, you will only feed the Hashimoto's and make yourself feel 10 times worse when the 'hit' wears off (Believe me I did that little stunt for many years) Try to have regular snacks of protein type foods. You will feel much better.
Sounds like you need some different anti-biotics for the molars. If you aren't allergic ask for good old fashioned penicillin. I had the same problem when I was at my worst Hashi moment. Only anti-biotics of the penicillin type helped so I could then have the teeth looked at without screaming my head off. Any infection when in a Hashimoto attack will always be worse than any one else's.
If you need more advice on the Hashimoto's I am always available to chat!
Thanks for the advice. I have noticed that cerrtain times of the day my body just feels like it shuts down. between 2-5 pm. I can really feel it acting up. I started to log the events since im at work most of the time. I start sweating and break out into the rash.I get the chest pain and my heart will start racing. Sometimes so bad! I can't really walk away to try and calm down so thats when I see myself just clenching. I try to space meds out. She tested my tsh level on friday and will do it agian in two weeks. My only complaint is this abcess molars. The swelling won't go down should I get something stronger? I want to get my teeth fixed. I believe this is bothering me the most. I have been on keflex for a few days now. Its getting a little better, but not going all the way down. Anything else you guys recomend??? I also asked her about armour to shrink the goiter. My moms friend suggested it. Said it does wonders for her. Doesnt want to switch me yet. I haven't gone to the bathroom in about a week and that also makes me extra bloated.
That sux.... I have also been living with Hashimoto's for a little while and it's really hard to deal with. I know those symptoms quite well unfortunately and sad to say it, my symptoms have absolutely nothing to do with other medications. Unfortunately I too have had weight and hair loss issues, though not quite as drastic as yours. If I'm not mistaken, my endocrinologist said that when you have Hashimoto's you are lacking in T2 and T3 which are vital for controlling your pituitary gland, which sadly controls everything else in your body. I have taken my medication every day and still struggle with most of the issues you're going through. Far as I know, these symptoms I have had:
nausea
swollen and stiff neck
tense muscles
temperature control issues
difficulty breathing
trouble swallowing
anxiety issues
exhaustion
mood swings
major pms
chest pains
I don't know if you have been through this, but trust me... when you are on a high dose of medication, it gets really bad. Sometimes it becomes unbearable, so trust me when I say, I sympathize with you completely.
I don't see any drugs that would interfere, although when you put them all together and stir vigorously, who knows?
I think you're safe to carry on and get your thyroid blood tests run again six weeks after you started taking the Synthroid.
