Just an update, my doctor sent a referral here to Maui and I was able to go and get my blood drawn on Wednesday ? (All the days are running together, sorry)...I haven't heard anything yet...prolly won't until Monday. In the meantime, I've "weaned" myself from Propranol. My resting heart rate has consistently been in the 60's. (w/out the drug) Makes me feel too slow, to tell ya the truth. I've basically been kicking back, lying on the beach, no funny movements so my muscles don't spaz out. Trying to make the most of my vacay and not be too worried. Nothing I can do until Monday but try to enjoy Oahu...thanks for the support!
I know a little about beta blockers. Sometimes they can mask the symptoms of thyroid and blood sugar problems. I started taking propranolol because I had migraines, uncontrollable fast heart rate and high blood pressure. Recently, after taking propranolol for two years I was on 60mg and a week ago I started 20mg. My heart rate is fast again and I feel kind of more fatigued again. I don't know what it means though.
Just my update: my endo in Cali is trying to secure an appt for me while I am here in Hawaii to have a blood draw. I had the labs done a few weeks ago, but he wants me to have them done here so he can look at them and see what changes, if any, I have had since 3 weeks ago. It's a good thing that they are trying to get on top of it, logistically it stinks! I bought travel insurance which doesn't cover blood analysis (go figure) and now trying to secure an appt in a day and a half while on Maui...before leaving for Oahu in 2 days....where I might have to start the damn process over. On top of that, I'm wondering if they will even get the results before I leave Hawaii?? Or am I now going to have to pay out of pocket for tests that I could get for free at home in my own clinic...but now I'm not there.
Sorry to vent. It's just a little frustrating to not be a normal healthy person and just be able to enjoy vacations without spending all this time researching, on the phones with docs and competing with sharp pains.
On a good note, the weather and scenery are absolutely beautiful. I'm seriously considering moving here, once I start feeling better of course.
Thanks for checking in with me, I really really appreciate the support!!!
I agree with monica........
I too was low in calcium and vitamin d, and B12 so started taking them.
I take a calcium/D combined 600mg aily (1 tablet) and a mega B vitamin everyday.
The Calcium does help with the cramping.
As for 2.4.....well usually they wont start you on a T4 med until your tsh goes to around 10.0.
I started on 25mcg every 2nd day when mine was 6.0.
Slow and baby steps are the key.
No I'm not taking anything. I had a better day yesterday, but I didn't push myself. I'm pretty much sitting here waiting for my endo to call me back as he should have gotten the labs I took last week and reviewed them. When he calls I will def. ask about any kind of vitamins.
Thanks for reading and responding.
I had cramping post RAI when my calcium level was down. Are you taking calcium?
I have been sitting here online googling everything that I can since I posted my thread. Yes, I went in last week and got my blood work done and my doctor told me that I still was hyper and that I wouldn't have any problems while here on vacay and we'd just retest in two weeks when I got back. Unfortunately {according to my last thread} I did not ask him enough questions, I just assumed that he knew what he was talking about when he said my range was 2.4 and that I was still hyper. I tried to get in to see my endo and was told he was booked until December! So I did the next best thing by going to my GP and getting my blood work done and I thought I was in the clear...
I am still waiting to hear from a doctor so he can let me know if I can wait until I get home to test or if I should go to a hospital here and test! I'm not scheduled to be home until the 21st!!!! I am hoping to have my GP fax my latest blood work to my endo and then talk to my endo about what's going on. I feel super tired and achey and depressed...my doctor did not tell me to be watching for any of these signs while transitioning! So naturally when I could barely move my neck yesterday it gave me quite the fright! I am feeling "better" now that I know that being hypo can cause pain...is there anything I can do to help alleviate it? I would like to try to enjoy some of my vacay while I'm here and last night got shot to hell.
would say you have gone hypo...get yr levels done asap.
I went hypo 5 weeks after RAI so my guess is , you have done the same.
The cramping is signs of hypo but to be 100% sure ...labs are needed.
Yep...the cramps and pains of hypo sure are an eye opener that make you sit up and take notice.
Its been over 6 weeks since RAI.......werent you told to get checked after 6 weeks?
I would say they will do yr labs then start you off on a T4 med.
Let us know how you go.
