Thanks al! Thy - I know, isn't it amazing the other issue went away! So excited~ Now, wishing I could have a repeat amazing recovery of my thyroid!
Stella - Thanks for the info on your hashi nodule - It helps a lot. I guess they will probably not call it hashi at this point either since *normal* is my thyroid panel again. At least I can rest assured that my blood is good ~ guess that is supposed to be consoling. LOL!
Feeling good but tired today - stress had a good grip and amazingly has finally let go. I guess I will continue to live with my swelling neck..... but then again, it could be worse.
I'm still waiting for a dx but had an ultrasound and left lobe of thyroid enlarged and two nodules, one measuring 1.6 cm and the other 2.8 cm. Had thyroid scan and nodules didn't show up, so I'm ASSuming they are cold nodules. Also had labwork drawn and my Anti-TPO is 704 . . . I picked up my own records and haven't seen my PCP yet with these results. My TSH is 5.317, so again, I'm ASSuming I have Hashi's. Let's see if my PCP gives me the same dx. Just recently started with some 'digestive' issues . . . it maybe heartburn, but I'm not sure because I've never had heartburn before - LOL. I'm sure it's all related, though. Does any of this help??
Glad the other issue went well.
That's good you asked to get copies. I'm going to do that from now on.
Looking back, before I knew about any of this stuff, I always had swollen gland (?).
Good luck.
Update -- I called the ENT office and they said they got my thyroid panel back and all was within normal limits, but I don't know what that is yet. They have not gotten my calcium panel back yet. I asked her to fax me a copy when she gets it all and she said she'll get that info on fax number when she calls to tell me about my calcium panel. Guess that is good, but would love to know what's wrong with my thyroid. Will start another round of antibiotics today since my ENT thinks I have swollen glands too.
Your question on nodules and Hashi/hypo.
From what I learned YES - the longer a patient remains in a state of hypothyroidism whether Hashi antibodies are present or not - the formation of nodules is greater in these types of patients.
Now depends on the patients and the situation of the nodules is another thing. I have RAI for Graves 2003.
Due to my ablation of the gland and remaining hypothyroid (now found Hashi) for so long- a nodule was discoved on me also.
My chances of the nodule being carcimona is greater due to the RAI and the stste of hypo I stayed- "Thanks docs for all that wonderful care in the past!!"
My nodule is very difficult to FNA - did that- done that! and it is not able to biopsy
I wait- see-and pray now.
I do get issues from time to time. I read it is part of the thyroid illness. I can't get it straight in my head either. This place is wonderful, you will gain lots of good insight and a few good friends!
Did you have tummy issues. Mine is upset with any change in diet. I have never had normal visit to the restroom.
Lindseyrae - I am the same way. I have some sono pics and my US report under my profile. Feel free to take a look. I am on dr # 5. Went through an endo (biggest jerk ever), an ENT who does not deal with thyroid but referred me to a surgeon when I don't need surgery at this point, a GP that has given me reflux medicines both of the only 2 times I have ever seen him (BTW - one was last year when I had a 15 day stomach thing - kept running to the bathroom and one this year when this thyroid **** started at the end of March) and I happily saw the surgeon- he was great but I did not need surgery at this time. Now I am on my second ENT. We shall see what he does.
I just had an ultrasound that came back as normal....
My thyroid is 5.5cm on the right lobe. It states that it is prominent in size and inhomogeneous. I don't think that is normal....
Anybody have nodules with their thyroiditis? I am still leaning (as Dr. Lupo suggested) to Hashi b/c of the echotexture of the thyroid
