PT 11 days ago now bad heartburn

Hi..
Is it normal to have such bad heartburn after surgery. When Dr. sent me home from the hospial he had me taking TUMS 12 a day and everyday after minus one till one a day and continue till the bottle is empty. I should be at one a day now. I am having bad heartburn and eating about 5 to 7 the last two days. I am newly diagnosed with Hashimoto's not on any meds for it. I am taking high blood pressure meds two months now but blood pressure had been high for way over a year I was to stubborn to go on meds stupid as I could have had a stroke or bleed in my brain, and Chantix to stop smoking, started taking one week ago. I am only taking one pain pill now at bedtime. So I am trying to figure out why the heartburn.. Any ideas?
PS.. No change in diet either.
Thank you,
Jean

*   Sorry to hear that your kids are sick. How are you doing with them all day?

They are doing ok .. being older (16, 14 and 9) it is a bit easier as when they sleep at that age you know they are not feeling well and when up they kind of fend for themselves and whine also LOL!  My 14yr old is recovered totally and off to school today while my high schooler came home very nausea yesterday and still feels bad today and is using the heating pad as she pulled a muscle while ill I think (in her back).  Her temp is normal but still not feeling well since Sat.  My 9yr old I think is ok .. she is still asleep for another hour until school.

*    Do you have to take them to the hosp? or ER when the fewer is too high? I only have one but it scares me to death when he got high fever!

No I didn't have to do ER as this one child since birth has gotten very high temps w/o any febrile seizures ... we did cool soaks with a washcloth on her body and it helped with Advil.  Her record temp was 106.2 when 18mos old and we did do the ER with that one .... she had asthma, ear infection, and virus all @ the same time .... today she is 14 and still gets the asthma but outgrew alot of it!!!  Neither of them got dehydrated.

*  How are you doing yourself this day? About your ankle and knee pains? I remembered reading your post before, you said that you are doing your work out every day, you are super.

Nahhh, it is only my foot exercise workout .. the rest of the body has gained weight over the past 1.5yrs.  I am not motivated to diet or exercise quite yet but soon I think.

*   I signed up for swimming class which will begin 6/18. Do you think I can do it or it is too early to go into the water?

My problem was the incision stung from the chlorine and I was S t U n N e D at how many neck muscles are involved JUST TREADING WATER .. so go slowly and see how you feel.  I only lasted 15mins in the water with my kids and that was floating on a kickboard!!!!!

Thanks for asking! ...... My ankles are so so .. I stopped using the anti-inflammatory and the pain came back but, then again, I walked around a theme park for my hubby's co. picnic on Sat for 9 hrs so what would I expect??? I didn't take the meds that day as they make me too tired with the Synthroid and I had to make the 2hr drive both ways as my dh stayed home with my dd with the fever and it was HIS picnic!!!  Ahhh the joys of parenthood no matter what the age of the children :) :) :)

Thanks.. I went to back to work today Dr. said to 4 to 6 hrs for the first week but ended up staying 7hrs. I am beat but no heartburn today. It did actually feel good to be doing something other then being at home. I think the worse part was hearing that alarm at 2:45 am today. I sure didn't miss that.

Thanks again.. over and out..

Jean, I had bad heartburn when I took too much calcium at one time. I had low blood calcium after TT and at that time I took 2400mg within 1.5 hours without food! My husband told me to drink some milk with it and it really helped to ease the heartburn (Dr. told me the same thing). Everyday when I take calcium now, I take it with food and there is no problem. Hope this will help. Take care.

Cheryl, I try to find a place to post to you but don't know where, sorry to borrow this thread. Sorry to hear that your kids are sick. How are you doing with them all day? Do you have to take them to the hosp? or ER when the fewer is too high? I only have one but it scares me to death when he got high fever! How are you doing yourself this day? About your ankle and knee pains? I remembered reading your post before, you said that you are doing your work out every day, you are super. I tried to make myself do some but I still don't have enough energy (or at least that was my excuse). I signed up for swimming class which will begin 6/18. Do you think I can do it or it is too early to go into the water?

I want to ask you about the scar, mine is still red and the area above still hold some water. How long does it take for the scar to look normal? I had PT surgery 24 years ago, it too long, I didn't remember. This TT I had on May 1st, so it just over a month now. Take care.

I got it in the beginning from the Synthroid and for about 10days after ea. increase of dosing. It finally went away for the most part.  R there side effects of the med U  R taking to stop smoking?

Also, believe it or not the calcium carbonate in the Tums can actually bring on some acid reflux from the body trying to handle ALL THAT # of Tums ... it actually turns on the gastric juices sometimes and the reflux can get worse.  My son had severe reflux for 3 yrs when born and I used to be on a children's reflux board for 8 years and had seen this posted a few times from mom's who brought their kids to Ped GI's .. my son was on Mylanta to help his constipation so we never encountered this "issue".

Hmmmmmm, huh?
