I see.
Some people on this forum that were on old Armour also took a little synthetic T4 with it to widen the ratio of T4 to T3. They had decent results. I have no direct experience with trying this.
Its easy to adjust your Levo and Cyto. And with the detailed ratios goolarra provided, you have something to go by.
If your doctor seems incompetent in dosing this, it might be time to see someone else. About thyroid.com has a list of thyroid doctors state by state.
I've been taking armour for maybe 4 or 5 years and have had mild palps most of that time. They got a lot worse with the reformulated and worse again with the levo/cyto
Hmm..............Well some people had palps on the reformulated Armour. Are you aware that Armour was reformulated this spring and has some ill effects on some people when the old formula worked great?
Did Armour give you palps before this spring (the old formula)?
I am well past menopause and yes it does complicate things! Since I had palps on Armour as well I am wondering if my problem is T3 meds. Perhaps I should go straight Levo for awhile to test it out.
are you also having menopause? this would and will complicate things. i'm having some problems with being meno and hypo.not fun!!! for thyroid issues you have come to the best place! great people.
I have to agree...sounds like a LOT of Cytomel. The replacement dosage for 120 mg Armour is 200 mcg levo. If you want to use Cytomel along with it, you can, but you have to drop the dose of levo to compensate for the Cytomel. For every 25 mcg of levo you drop, you add in approximately 5 mcg of Cytomel. So, your 200 mcg of levo went to 150 mcg, and you should have added 10-12.5 mcg Cytomel. Cytomel is about four times more powerful than levo. You can't just lower the levo and add in the same amount of Cytomel. And, yes, Cytomel (any T3 med) will have a tendency to exacerbate heart issues. Ask your doctor about lowering the Cytomel as soon as possible.
"I have felt extremely sleepy, tired and with "brain fog". Would a too high dose do this too? "
Med induced hyper state can make you tired and 'wired' at the same time. The brain fog could be the difference from the type of med change, not the dose. Even at a proper dose this takes a while for the body to adjust.
Well, from my experience and others that I have read here, changing types can be a little rough, when you were on one type for years. I did the opposite change last spring you are doing now.
Cytomel is more 'potent' than natural T3 in any natural dessicated combo. The first week its like 'speed', to the body. But stilI, I would say you are on too much med. This combo is higher than the equivalent Armour you were on. That is an uncomonly high dose of cytomel. There are charts to take the guess work out of it. Sweats and palps can also be from just changing type of med, but I bet your overdosed.
Friday night doesn't get much response here, but you will get more. Since its the weekend, I would ask your pharmasict sat about the high dose of cyto, if their experienced, they might agree.
Since I just started it two weeks ago I won't have a lab done for 6 weeks.
Yes, this is what I am actually taking. I even compared photos of the tablets online. And I started them cold turkey. I have felt extremely sleepy, tired and with "brain fog". Would a too high dose do this too?
Did you have a recent lab test on this amount / doseage?
OH my! 150mcg levoxl and 50 mcg cytomel is a lot higher dose medicine than the equivilant of 120 Armour, no wonder your having more palps!
Not only that, but the cytomel to levoxyl ratio is higher than most, seems to me you need less cytomel.
This is a rough estimate I have been on both types of meds (I am not a doctor).
120 Armour is about the same as 112 mcg synthetic T4 with 10 mcg cytomel per day.
Are you sure on the amount per day of old verses new meds you take?
Also:Were you slowly introduced to the new synthetics and on this amount for a while now? For most people synthetic T3 is a little more noticable than what was in the Armour.
