Please share stories of symptoms with Hashi's

Looking for some insight from people who have Hashimoto's.  I was wondering if people could please post some of the symptoms that they experienced with Hashi's. I have so many differnet symptoms (other than the typical textbook symtoms of fatigue, constipation and weight gain) that I think I am going crazy or maybe there might be something else seriously wrong with me.  Maybe seeing some others responses will help me undersand my situation better.  Thanks!

I have Hashi's and suffered with most of your symptoms, Brain Fog, Moderatly High Blood Pressure, High Cholesterol, Depression, Anxiety, Sensitive to cold, shivers, Sleep Apnia and Insomnia, Increased Heart Rate ( I was on Metoprolol for heart rate but it caused severe acid reflux, now I take a low dose of Diovan 40Mg) Fatigue, Short term memory problems, I also had the severe muscle aches and spasms in legs, feet and lower back, I was advised by members of this forum to take Vitamin D,and Magnesium, this advice worked for me, I started taking 1200 units of D per day and 450mgs of Magnesium, after 4-5 days my muscle problems went away(This could work for you) I also took Vitamin D Complex and it helped with the Stress and Depression, once the thyroid meds reached the optimal level the symptoms were gone, so keep your chin up, once you get to the right dosage, you will feel much better. Good Luck FTB4

So I guess my symptoms all sound thyroid related huh?  As far as the heart meds I have a prescription for a beta blocker but I am afraid to take it.  I had a holter monitor put on and my heartrate fluctuates between 45 and 163.  45 is too low and to take a medication to help lower it scares me! As far as the babies, no worries there I have 4.  I'm done.  My last pregnancy is what made me worse!!!

Welcome to the club.
Your Hashi sure has control! You need a lot more med. I was on 150 synthriod for a long time until my new Dr. checked the TSH and lowered it. Was I in trouble then. You will need to get some med for the heartbeat problem. My Heart Dr. put me on med and it sure helped. You probably need both Dr. to keep you balanced.
My warning to you. Do not have another baby until you get this staight. I read recently , they have found out that this thyroid problem can cause a hairlip in newborns. Believe me it happened! I have been 50 yrs trying to find out why it happened and have just read a medical report from John Hopkins(I think)  Fair warning.

I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's in April and was on Synthroid but had problems with it so my endo stopped my meds about a month ago for 2 weeks and has restarted me on Levoxyl about 2 weeks ago.  I am on 25mcg and will increase slowly (37.5, 44, 50, 62.5, etc) due to heartrate in the 160's with faster increases.  My symptoms right now are

1. Fatigue
2. Constipation
3. Anxiety
4. Depression
5. SEVERE muscle and joint pain especially in my legs
6. Tingling and numbness everywhere including my head
7. Memory probelms
8. Vision problems (blurry)
9. Bradycardia/Tachycardia
10. Equilibrium problems including lightheadeness
11. Dry and metallic taste in mouth

I don't know what to do anymore!  I have had an MRI of my brain, ENG to rule out ear probelms and all were negative.  I would have hoped for being on meds (today is day 18) that some of this would have eased but I feel worse each and every day!

Hi,  I understand the frustration especially if you do not present with some of the more typical symptoms.  I have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis being diagnosed about 5 years ago when I felt a lump in my neck.  I had had a thyroid issue in my mid 20's but the next doctor said there was nothing there and I believed her.  So I went along, but after my son was born in 2001 I began to feel extremely fatigued.  I just chalked it up to being a parent so thought nothing of it.  2 years later I felt the goiter.  It is a multinodular and increasing in size so I am probably having it removed.

Symptoms I have experienced include brittle nails, dry skin, extremely heavy periods (has endometrial ablation 3 years ago--couldn't wait for thyroid to work out), really dry scalp, serious fatigue, an extremely "foggy" brain (I feel like I have Alzheimer's because I ask questions over and over thinking I am just not paying attention), some eye twitching, vision seems to be getting worse (astigmatism), can never lose weight (haven't been seriously trying lately, but when I did it seemed I did not lose anything!!)  Oddly, I can swallow and breath fine with this huge goiter.

Also, I have to say that I have kidney stones, gallstones (gallbladder removed 4/24/09), a cyst on my adrenal gland and high triglicerides.  Needless to say, a mess.  I am looking into possibly having a parathyroid problem as well (not that I want one).

Good luck with your diagnosis and believe me I thought I was going crazy too.  Things just aren't right and we know it.  To pinpoint it exactly is the hard part.  Keep trying and definitely visit this site often.  Perhaps you want to share your symptoms.  This site has helped me understand better.  Take care.
