RAI dosage question

I have read numerous posts stating what the RAI dosage was for various people and their different cancers.  I had a VERY small nodule that was cancersous, no mestatis and received 98mCi.  Others who have seemed to have had way more serious sounding cancers have gotten lower doses in some cases.  To put this in perspective, Hopeful436 is a friend, and her cancer was similar to mine.  Her nodules were even a bit larger than mine, and yet she got 50mCi of Radiation...?  Is this just totally left up to the doctor/endo/nuclear specialist in charge?  Are there no doseage guidelines based on size and mestatis? Everyone's dosage just seems so random to me.  Any thoughts?

That's ok, I'm with ya.  I too have a friend here who is getting 100+ and i am getting 30.  So I have some concerns, especially since her endo has already given rx for meds for after RAI and my doc is waiting 3 more weeks after RAI to see me.  NO MEDS TILL THEN,   MY POOR FAMILY!!!!!!!!!!
