I just weaned my year and 1/2 old last spring to do RAI and I was told Mimimun it would be pump and dump for 8 to 12 weeks. So I opted to wean her, cause by the time I could BF again she would have lost her latching ability.
Once your milk comes in feed on one side till drained and pump the other side. Then switch back and forth between breasts for feedings. Pumping will not empty the breast like the baby will. breast milk can be frozed for up to 6 months I beleive so just make sure you learn the storing/freezing process correctly. Drink lots of fluids to keep the supply up as you are stock piling.
and by the way...(hugs you) thanks for breastfeeding!
Little children suck up radation like sponges. So follow doctors orders completely. You might want to make up a game to play, "mama's in the hospital...see you in two weeks" with your two year old so when you are in isolation they will not be worried. My 1 1/2 year old and I also invented "ankle hugs" as there will be NO neck contact for two weeks.
I wont lie its rough as hell to be away from small children....but also WOW did it feel nice to have a break!! I caught up on my sleep and I read a book for the first time in years!
Peace be the journey

going nuclear means no breat feeding. I dont know how long it stay nuked but if it were me I would just plan on not nursing. Its just too risky.
Hopefully someone else will be in with more info.
congrats on your baby. When you feel up to it after the birth let us know how it went .
