Thank you so much for your replies and comments. I will ask my doctor about an ultra sound and 88mcg dose.
Take care
Pam
I have a multinodular goiter and some type of autoimmune thyroiditis. I sometimes get aches and pains in my throat and I definitely associate it with my thyroid. They come and go for me. I'd get an ultrasound if I was you just to see what's going on there. None of the doctors I saw (GPs, ob/gyns, ENT) mentioned my goiter, but the Endo felt it right away.
Best wishes to you!
Cindy
I am having a total thyirodectomy on feb 19.I didn't have a biopsy done, just an ultrasound and CT. I have 3large nodules with calcification. I stil don't know what to expect....cancer.I had iodine treatment in 2000 and was told now that one of my nodules was cold even back then and iodine didn't help me. I never took any thyroid meds and my TSH is normal. Nevertheless for the last several years I suffer from fatigue and I am always cold.I do not trust the doctors, especially the endo that I saw with my symptoms. I have a pain on the right side of my neck and chest pain but my heart and lungs are fine. I feel like the endo is in business of making money not helping people.I had two visits with him and he rushed and told me"you have an ugly thyroid and your nodules could be malignant" I went to see him with the results from my ultrasound that my primary doctor ordered.Endo send me to general suergeon for total thyroidectomy.
Anybody who has similar experience?
You could also ask the doctor about the 88mcg dose if the TSH is still too high.
Some people do better going slower with med increases and allowing your body several weeks to adjust to each increase.
If you have never had an ultrasound done on your thyroid, you should request one from your doctor. A very simple procedure that can answer a lot of questions.
