SYNTHROID

OK HOW MUCH IS TOO MUCH SYNTHROID? I HAVE BEEN ON 200 MCG FOR THE LAST 8 MONTHS AND HAS BEEN FINE, NOW MY THYROID IS ENLARGED AND MY TSH IS 12.8 AND T4 0.78.  THEY DID AN ULTRASOUND BUT IT WILL BE FOUR WEEKS BEFORE THEY GET THE RESULTS BACK, THEY SENT IT TO A SURGEON TO READ, HOWEVER IN THE MEANTIME HE INCREASED MY DOSE TO 250MCG.

No the doctor hasnt checked me for hashi. I had post partum thyroiditis and had radioactive iodine to kill it. However now it is enlarged with multinodular goiters. I asked why it would take 4 weeks but they said the surgeon reading it does it as a favor to their office so he just tries to make time whenever to read them.

Your dosage is determined by your levels. You would be in the hyper range if you were on too much. You are in the hypo range. It sounds like you have Hashimoto's and that is why you are on almost full replacement? Did you have those tests done to see if you had Hashi's?
I have never heard of it taking 4 weeks for ultrasound results and readings. I always have mine within 3 days. That is aweful that they are making you wait like that! I would call and call and call until they motivate someone to get their act together.
Has anyone bothered to check your Free T3 level as well?
