Side effects from Synthyroid

I am trying to find out if sleeplessness is a side effect of Synthriod. I take 0.1 mg per day and have for several years. Recently I am having a lot of trouble sleeping. Literally laying awake all night. I have always had issues falling asleep, but never to this extent. In researching my Medications to find out if that could be the reason I found it could possibly be the thyroid medication.

hi  yes i was ill on thyroid med still am . sleeplessness and pains all over from day took . due to years of notknowing i have now learnt about adrenals , this can affect you badly if not checked first . mine never were . i am off med as i put up with the pains for years til i ended up in brain dead depressed state overnight , off work . no support from hospital who treated me . just left to wonder what was happening . i am now awaiting tests for adenals , feel very ill at moment . sleepless . weak muscles arms . leg pains cramps . soreness in head  that really worries me . chronic stress going on in body . now taking beta blockers .  to control til investigated , my heart feels its racing uncontrollably . unable to work like this and every day it seems to be getting worse  i cant contact hospital endo about as they dont return call . my gp cant really deal with . so i am left for however long it takes to get a bed . free . reaaly worrieed about effects on heart . if this is due to being hypothyroid i dont understand why taking the med send me into near coma state and lowers my health .
i am so fed up with all this . i did all told twice now over 8 years , and have never got back to the health i had before they treated me . i had no symptoms and went to doc for contraception . this thyroid was picked up on as needeed treating. i questioned it and doc said it was bad enoug for her to diagnose it and treat . since then my life has been over and nothing but worries as i now i cant be well on either med .  thyronine or thyroxine .
my endo has stressed that in uk the only two used are those, so what my chances are of being well again i dont know ./ seems my gp has condemned me to this now from being healthy as i was and she doesnt want to know now and left me to it .
i cant believe the suffering caused by someone i trusted with my health , and i know i am not the only one . its easy to prescribe but then when there are problems they all walk away . i just hope no lasting damage has been done to my health . i sympathise with everyone going through it too .

If your TSH is too low, meaning that your dosage is too high that can make you hyperthyroid and insomnia is a side effect of that. It might be worth it to have your levels checked.
