Still feeling terrible with Synthroid for Hashimoto's, do I have any other options?

Just hoping to get some advice or hear anyone's experience who has gone through the same problems. Thank you in advance!

I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's about a year and a half ago and I was prescribed Synthroid 25mcg. After taking the Synthroid as directed my labs consistently showed I was in the "normal" range but I haven't had relief from any of my symptoms. (Extreme exhaustion, painful joints, skin and hair problems etc.)

Is there another form of medication that other's with Hashimoto's have had better luck with? Or any medication (Natural or otherwise) that can be added to help alleviate some of the symptoms? Any advice on how to ask my doctor for a better treatment plan?

Thanks,

Krystina

There is a lot to discuss because you are not being adequately treated.  But first please post your thyroid related test results and reference ranges shown on the lab report.  Also, if tested for Vitamin D, B12 and ferritin please post those as well.

It's great that you are speaking up for yourself and trying to get the care you need to feel better. If your not seeing the expected results from the meds, a conversation with the doc may be in order.

Might be helpful to check this out from ************. It's a guide with specific questions to ask the doctor about medication options which may help with inspiration for the conversation: http://************.com/lib/questions-for-your-doctor-about-medications/

Here are some other specifically related to pain management:

- Is it normal to suffer this type of pain with this condition?
- Are there common triggers for this type of pain? Should I avoid noise, heat, certain foods or other situations?
-  What kinds of pain treatments are available and appropriate for me? What are the risks and side effects of each?
- What about alternative treatments? Are there homeopathic or complementary treatments?
- Will diet or exercise help alleviate my pain? Should I see a nutritionist or work with a physical or occupational therapist?
- What resources are available to help me learn more about my type of pain and how to manage it?
