You must be mistaking me for someone else; I've never been on xanax.  I do remember that you were trying to wean of Lorazepram, though; I'm glad to hear you got through that.

I think your symptoms must be from something else, rather than getting off the omeprazole, though.

What is the reference range for your FT4, at 1.6?  That seems rather high to me, but without the reference range, I can't tell for sure; you might be just a tab hyper.  Can you get your doctor to do an FT3 to make sure you are converting properly?

Thanks Bar, no, my doc test FT4 as well and it seems to be stable for some time now. It was about 1.6 (i have to check again) and tsh was 2.7...however I tested the tsh a few weeks before this test and it was 5.2 at a different lab but FT4 was almost the same. I'm on 88mg Synthroid and stopped Omeprazol almost 3 weeks ago cold turkey. After a few days i started to experience unpleasant side effects, moodiness, lack of appetite, nervosity...special in the morning....then I did a research on Internet and found out that you should tamper off Omeprazol after taking it more than 6 weeks...I should have researched before but I trusted the doctor.  It got a little bit better with the appetite and cold-like symptoms....

If you remember, we talked months ago about weaning off Lorazepam and I managed with a lot of pain to get rid of this but I'm taking xanax in stead  1.5/day. I was at 2mg but weaning off very slowly basically 0.125 every month so I don't feel bad especially now that I got a job and need to function fine.  After I'm done with this side effects from stopping Omeprazol I'll continue to reduce xanax little by little.

I remember you told me that getting off xanax wasn't easy at all but finally you were successful and happy to be off it. Also I'll reapeat the blood test in a few months to see how it is without Omeprazol. I found a good endocrinologist who test FT4 w/o asking him and explain me what mistakes were done by previous doc that sent me to ER...in June last summer.
Thanks again

Omeprazole is for acid reflux - it shouldn't have any effect on your TSH, and you shouldn't have any side effects from stopping it, other than possibly more acid reflux.

I took Aciphex for many years, then switched to omeprazole, when insurance refused to pay for Aciphex...... had to go to the 40 mg caps for some time.  Once my thyroid levels began to come in line, I stopped the omeprazole.......  now, I take it only when I eat something that causes acid reflux (usually, eating too close to bedtime)......

BTW -- I do hope you aren't treating your thyroid, based only on TSH....... if you could post your most recent thyroid labs, with reference ranges, since these vary from lab to lab, members could help evaluate your situation.

Low thyroid levels can cause acid reflux/GERD.
