Sudden Nodule Pain

Hello all.  My doctor found a 2.8cm nodule on my left thyroid about 9 mo ago.  I have had an FNA which they advised was benign, and thyroid tests which they advise my thyroid is functioning normally.  I had another ultrasound done in december and it had grown a tad, but we will repeat them in july.

Yesturday my nodule started hurting ALOT.  It is super tender to the touch and I cannot even tilt my head to the right it hurts.  Along with that my throat feels stressed.  Like when you scream alot how it feels afterwards, thats how it feels.  I read that if it hurts, this could mean its bleeding or that its changing from begning to malignant.  Is this correct?  Should I contact my doctor and be seen earlier?  Should I be worried.

Thanks in advance

If the throat hurts, it usually means the thyroid is inflammed if you have nodules.
Only biopsys can determine if there is cancer or not usually.
Go get checked again by your Doctor and get the tests done that tawra posted.
Good Luck :o)

My benign nodules would hurt when they would leak thyroid hormone. I would love to see your 'normal' thyroid levels. Many members on this forum can tell you 'normal' to one endo may not be normal at all. You could have an auto-immune condition like Hashimoto's causing this.

Call your doc on Monday. It is your right as a patient to have your lab scores. Please post any of these thyroid labs you may have:
TSH
FT3
FT4
TGab
TPOab
TSI

Do you have any thyroid disease symptoms? Below were mine last year. I had a combo of hyper and hypo as my nodules would leak hormone and make my hyper for a few weeks, then I'd swing back to hypo. I am now on thyroid meds (which shrunk the nodules) and am doing much better.

These symptoms slowly appeared and worsened after birthing an infant (who was also premature) and they present themselves more strongly alongside sporadic bouts of diarrhea:
Mild weight gain even while dieting
Weight loss when not dieting
Extreme fatigue/napping
GERD/Heartburn/chest pain
Mostly constipation mixed with diarrhea
Depression/anxiety/forgetfulness/brain fog
Abdomen swells for no apparent reason
Neck/jaw pain/swelling/pressure
Scratchy voice
Migraines, dizziness and back of neck/head pain
Very cold feet and hands and sometimes a feeling like ants are biting my feet
Endometriosis (2 years ago – cured after one year of birth control)
Irregular/heavy periods and menstrual-like cramping in between periods
Ear pressure/pain
Voice is sometimes hoarse
Knee/joint pains – finger swelling and pain
Rash or scaly skin on neck, head, hands, chest, chin, nose, right armpit down to waist
Dry eyes and sometimes soreness
Occasionally I have a mild hot flashes or chills
Night throbbing/pounding in ears that wakes me
Toe nails feel painful and brittle
Muscles in legs sometimes go wobbly and weak when I am standing
Tingling feet/hands/lips
Body temp ranges 97-97.5
Hair clumps in shower
Shaky hands
Blood pressure changing
Feeling like heart is beating fast
Decreased sex drive
Enlarged lymphnodes in neck and armpit
Legs feel heavy and swollen at times
