Synthroid Overdose

Hi, I am a 44 year old female and I have accidentally taken 10 x the prescribed dose of Synthroid for 8 consecutive days. What should I do?

I am so glad that you got medical attention, hopfully it will pass quickly so you can get back to normal. Keep resting and if you notice anything unusual contact your doctor so it can be treated in time. Praying for you to pull through this quickly! When you are able please post to let us know on how you are doing. Shelly45

It was my own careless fault. I was reading milligrams instead of micrograms. I went to the urgent care, got a blood test (no results yet), have a mild fever, got an EKG, came back normal. My heart rate is slightly elevated (around 100), was sent home on bed rest and no synthroid for about 10 days or two weeks. Have to watch for rise in fever, heart rate, heart failure or "craziness' So far I am doing okay, just extremely tired, somewhat incoherent, body aches all over and stomach cramps and headaches. Hope I will pull through this without  anything more severe. Oh yes, and the doctor prescribes me also 20mg enderal (to control heart rate)
Thanks for the concern and advice.

Poison control center - local or national.

When they tell you what to do, please let us know and I am really curious how you happened to take 10x the prescribed dose.  Did your pharmacist give you the wrong strength?  Did you think milligrams instead of micrograms?  I can't figure it out and I really want to avoid having that happen to me.

Good luck and looking forward to hearing from you,
Mary

if you can't get ahold of your doctor try your local poison control center as well.
