Ultrasound Results Question....

I had an ultrasound on Monday and my ENT gave me the results and the report.  I have a "large complex multicystic mass with a focus of soft tissue primarily superior and medial to the right lobe.  This is suspicious for arising from the right lobe.  The mass measures 6.2 x 3.3 x 4.1 cm.  The more normal appearing right lobe tissue is 3.7 x 1.4 x 1.3 cm.  Left lobe measures 2.5 x 0.7 x 0.8 cm.

Impression:  A large multicystic septated mass arising from the right thyroid lobe with a large irregular soft tissue nodule."

I was referred to another ENT who specializes in head and neck tumors and cancers.  Of course he is busy and I now have to wait until the 26th of the month to see him.  While nothing physiologically will happen in the next couple of weeks, it doesn't change my mental and emotional well being.  This concerns me.  Do you have any thoughts??  My ENT said based on its large size, a fine needle aspiration is not useful, and surgery should be undertaken to remove the tumor.  Other than that, there was nothing else he could tell me.

Your thoughts would be appreciated.  Thank you.

Steve

I totally agree with the above postings.
I am of the attitude that 'if in doubt, take it out'.
Sorry but things like this, you dont mess around with.
If not removed...it could get bigger and cause all sorts of problems.
Let us know how you go .
Good Luck.....I understand the anxiety, I think we all do.

6.2 is pretty large...I would consider surgery.
