No bandage for me and no blood. They didn't numb me .. I thought root canal dental needle to numb me was worse!!!!!
hi i had no problems after my FNA, other than very slightly tender to touch (just like a bruise really) and a few days after tender to yawn and sneeze etc. but nothing really painfull, i took the day off work cos wasn't sure how i'd feel but went shopping straight after :) good luck you'll be fine :) x x x
Hi there, not easy I know, but try not to be nervous. I had a couple of these tests and really they were not a huge problem. I went straight back to work after one and out to dinner after another. Yes, they may be a little bit uncomfortable but if you tell your radiographer that you are a bit nervous they'll try to be very gentle. They will keep the ultrasound monitor in place while they do the procedure to make sure they guide the needle in correctly.Once in, it just felt like they were 'prodding' me a bit - totally copeable with and I do not have a good pain threshold! To me the worst bit was the anticipation of it! I didn't need any pain painkillers afterwards but as chit chat said, sometimes just a little bit achey which can be relieved by normal pain killers.
When I had mine they came back 'inconclusive' as the samples were quite contaminated with blood. (Apparently it is quite normal when taking samples from the thyroid). Next time he took a couple of samples to make sure so don't be worried if he/she needs to do that. No afterwards problems. You should be perfectly ok once it's all over. (I found a large glass of wine made me forget it soon enough!)
Do come back and let us know the results.
Good luck.

I am a stay at home so it is hard for me to "take a day off of work", but my mother will be here so I am sure she will be a great help to me.
I think I can handle a little achy cramp while shopping. Will there be a big bandage or anything?
Tylenol and the day off from work usually works the best. It usually feels a bit achy muscle cramp sore the first 12-24hrs later if all goes accoriding to plan as it does with most of us.
