Synthroid mistake

If one's body has corrected itself, and one no longer needs levothyroxine is the proper procedure to just stop taking the medicine?
I have read that one can take Cytomel for 4 to 5 weeks without the T4 and wait 10 days before a blood test is performed.  Which is the best method?

I agree with Applecore.
The doctor should tell you what to do.

If you do not need the levothyroxine, you certainly do not need Cytomel. There is no special procedure for stopping your Levothyroxine. You just stop.

If the doctor tells you to, that is.

If you have hypothyroidism and you get your levels adjusted properly with medication, that does not mean you are healed and can stop the med. If your thyroid resumes function to the point that you do not need levothyroxine, you will know because the medication will drive you hyper.

If that happens, the doctor will either lower your dose or tell you to discontinue it and continue to monitor your thyroid hormone levels.

I experience that once years ago.  The Lord healed my thyroid and then I reacted to the synthroid and the doctor told me to immediately get off of it.  I don't know anything about cytomel and what makes you think your body has corrected itself.  Did you have tests and they are normal.   That woudl be with the medicine.  I have never heard of it correcting itself.     The doctor should tell you what to do.   linda
