T4 and T3 mix

Yes I to have thyroidism and always looking for ways to improve how I feel and fight the hair loss issues everyone seems to have, however this is the first time reading this forum and find it quite outrageous that a few people on the forum see themselves as a professionals and give advice on what they think is to high or to low a dosage, or advise changing doctors. Lets not lose sight of what forums are, they are to share experiences with each other not to say what medicines  you should or should not be taking. Listening to your doctor is much safer than listening to a bunch of people ill advising you on an Internet forum.

We will always receive ignorant comments by people. If this website was not available i would be dead. The people here have helped me so much with this disease and my doctors have done nothing. It really burns me up that you go to a doctor for help and they treat you like your an idiot or give you antidepressants. Really and you say trust your doctor. Why are you even on the site?  People can do what they want. "Really"!

I have to say that you have made a premature judgement about this Forum and its members.  Where do you think the suggestions come from?   They come from our long painful, personal experience with doctors who didn't know enough or care enough to successfully treat our own thyroid problems, and similar experiences of our many members that have been on this Forum over the years.

In addition, we spend countless hours searching the net for scientific studies that provide the basis for much of what is said here.  We don't just pull such info from thin air.  Before you get your dander up, you should spend more time here, and read through a lot of posts, and follow up by reading the links given that support what is said.  In addition, we also monitor everything posted on the Forum, in order to protect members from unsupported info.  No member goes unchallenged if they post something that is not supportable by statistically valid scientific studies.

If you really want to delve into what I have said, here is a good place to start.  The site is provided by a well known thyroid doctor.  Please also note the additional subjects on the left hand side of the page, and the huge number of references to supporting scientific studies.

So, if there is anything specific that has been stated here on the Forum that you would like to challenge, just serve it up and I will be glad to give you a link to scientific study data that are the basis for what we tell our members.

I have to agree that we do not pretend to be professionals; we are patients who have been through a lot of misery because of bad doctors.  I thought the one who diagnosed me was would ultimately kill me; I had to get away from him before he did that, but it took this forum to  help me understand what testing to ask for and what meds might help me.

Doctors are not infallible and they should never be followed blindly... because all too often they will keep you ill.......

Agree that your hair loss is a symptom of being hypo.... you might need to ask your doctor some questions, but don't necessarily expect to get honest answers.

And let's not lose sight of the fact that all doctors are not good doctors, especially good thyroid doctors.  If patients were being treated adequately by their doctors, no one would need to be on this forum.

A forum in which the only advice is "listen to your doctor" is fairly useless.  Ultimately, the decision is between patient and doctor.  Knowledge is power, and the more information a patient has, the more likely he is to be treated properly.  Everyone should be aware of all his options, one of which is different meds and the other a different doctor.

Hair loss is a symptom of hypo (and, no, everyone does not have continuing hair loss if their meds are right), and since you're always trying to improve how you feel, it sounds like you might be one of the undertreated ones.

We do not pretend to be MD's or professionals, so you are wrong on that point, and when a thyroid sufferer is stating that the MD they are treated by only treats and tests by TSH alone, they should find another MD, because that MD is only making that person suufer longer and having to endure more symptoms because of the ignorance of that MD. Free T3 is the active thyroid hormone "Not" TSH  FTB4
