THYROID NODULES

I recently had and ultrasound that showed a mildly enlarged lobular thyroid to small 0.4 cm solid nodules in the left lobe.  All thyroid functions were normal in fact right in the middle of normal.  Then a thyroid scan was ordered which showed a normal thyroid size and that neither nodules was dominant, hot or cold, and that the thyroid uptake was slightly elevated 36% at 6 hours and 18% at 24 hours.  I have three relatives all on the same side with thyroid cancer at different ages and sexes, 50's female, 20's male, 40's female.  I think we are going to do a FNA as the next step, but none of the labs or imaging makes since and the only symptoms besides the thyroid which felt enlarged on exam, fit thyroid disease.  Other symptoms, enlarged lymph nodes at the jaw line for 2 years, bell's palsy and extreme fatigue, I am sleeping for the first time in my life from 4-5 hrs a night, to 15 hrs or more a day and you have to shake me to wake me up.  What are your thoughts?

While biopsy of lumph node can be sucsessful, he can easy miss the small noduloes unless he just wants to sample the tissue outside of the nodules. I would like you to read the article about biopsy guidelines[ which nodules should be biopsied]

My doctor wants to go ahead with the biopsies, and an aspiration of one lymph node, I'm lost nothing makes any sense.

The FNA will be hard to make on sub centimeter nodules.
