hi tks

i understand that sam is supposed to help with brain function and help somewhat with mild depression/anxiety also the antistress vitamin. both of these are greek products so i dont know the american or english equivalent.

they are not supposed to help with the thyroid condition .

barb - tks yr post

i have no idea my labs !!! i am supposed to go end of sept and have a u/s as well as i haven't had one in a long time.

those two herbal vitamins DO NOT contain iodine . i know that it's bad for hashis as well as soya products.

tks everyone

Sam-E will NOT help your thyroid condition; nor will B complex...... Are you currently on a thyroid hormone replacement?  If so, what? What dosage?

What are your latest thyroid hormone lab results (FT3 and FT4, along with TSH)?  Please post those labs, along with reference ranges, since these vary from lab to lab, so must come from your own lab report.

Iodine is not always good for Hashi's patients (can be harmful) -- please check with your doctor before taking it.........

There is no such thing as being "addicted" to thyroid hormones; if your thyroid does not produce the hormones you need, you will have to supplement.   The longer you let it go, the worse it gets.

samaa2009 -- your TSH is too high (the limit recommended by AACE some years ago, is 0.3-3.0).  You need to get your Free T3 and Free T4 levels tested; I suspect that your current regimen may not be doing justice for you.............

hi..iam 35 female....i also hav underactive thyroid (TSH 7) since 2 years now.i was prescribed hormone pill called thyroxine. But iam not taking the hormone pills ...instead iam eating including fish in my diet 4-5 days a week....fish contains iodine and no cholesterol...prawns and clam also contain high levels of iodine but has cholestrol. Vitamin D also helps to relieve fatigue......now iam also taking herbal thyroxine(ThyroPlex)  4 times  week when i dont take enough fish....this really helps. If we take hormone pills we get addicted to it and thus hav to take it daily.....but again different bodies take diff tablets differently....i hav my blood tested every 6 mnts now and my tsh is now 3.5.
