TIghtness in the neck

I would like some help, i have a severe tightness in the front of my throat that feels like a choking. It worsens the more tired i feel. The worst part is the inflammation makes me feel like i cant breath and causes severe pain that is not possible to ignore. I have a history of thyroid deficiency in the family and my docter did say that i will probably develop one but as of yet it should be ok. I have explained this to her along with symptoms of constant tiredness, headaches, body aches especially in joints, coldness all the time, weakness, dry skin, and sometimes depression (but i think this is more to do with being fed up of the constant tiredness and frequent pain), however she insists it is simply a problem with my lifestyle. I admit im busy and did believe this to be a cause but its been almost a year and a half and there has been no improvement and often for no reason it becomes worse. I am only 20 years old however so i dont know if this is a thyroid issue. Also finally i was diagnosed with low b12 levels round three years ago and was taking injections for a year or so, they did balance out but i was told this was the source of my tiredness however it did not disappear once the levels were normal again  I would just like to have some relief and understand if this is in fact a thyroid issue or not. Thank you for taking the time to read this and i look forward to a response.

I was asking because I was wondering if you had clearly requested a current TSH test from the doctor you already have.

If you need to change then you need to, but sometimes it is a communications issue that more directness can resolve.

If your current doctor is actually blocking you getting tested then find another. If you specifically request that you be tested for thyroid the current doctor may do the test easily.

Your symptoms are compatible with thyroid problems, but are also common in many other conditions.
Get the test, either from you current doc or a different one, and then work from there.

Good luck.

no actually, its been a long time since they were last done but i just wondered if these were thryoid deficiency symtoms and maybe see if others have them and know how to deal with them but i should go and have them tested again first anyway. Thanks.

Has your present doctor tested your thyroid function recently?

I would go to another doctor and have blood tests done for thyroid.  There is no way to tell if there is a problem if this is not done.  If this doctor will not cooperate, get another, preferably an endocrinologist who specializes in the thyroid.  Also have your adrenals checked, too.
