In 2002, I found a nodule on the right side of my thyroid. They did an asperation and it came back benine. They were just going to watch it. I got a second oppinion, and the second Dr. told me that I should go ahead and have the nodule removed and then I wouldn't have to worry about it growing larger. So I made the appointment to have them remove it. They took out the right side of my thyroid and it came back cancerous and had spread to the other side. I went back to have them remove the rest of it. Even though they thought it wasn't cancer, it was.
So Always get a second oppinion. If I wouldn't of, who knows how bad it would have gotten.
My endo told me my nodule is a fluid filled sac.
I have my pathology report it states that lump has "small clusters of follicular cells with anisonucleosis and moderate to abundant cytoplasam. No increased lymphocytes seen".
I don't know to how interpret this report.
According to my endo...I have a benign thyroid nodule which doesn't bother me and my thyroid...it is just like annoying child to me......it doesn't hurt but make me think about it all the time.
Thank you.
Is it blood filled or solid?
the long term ingestion of very low doses of RAI canelevate risk for thyroiditis like damage or cancer in a long run, but it will not make benign blood filled nodule
The few x-rays to take images should not be a problem
Thanks for the reply.
When I was a child, I had some ear problems. So I had some xrays for the right ear. Is the cause for my lump?
My endo asked whether I exposed to any kind of radition? Is my childhood xrays may caused the lump?
XRAYS used for digonosis but not for treatment...how bad the xrays will effect thyroid?
I would know more about the lump in my second biopsy.
Thank you.
The blood filled cysts are not likely to become malignant.
If no Hashimoto's thyroiditis is present, and no new nodules will be found on next follow up, there is no increased cancer risk.
Some cysts resulted from intrathyroidal bleeding tend to stbilize in size and even shrink with time, however they usually not completely disappearing.
